Romelu Lukaku

Don't think Cavani is a key factor to be honest, I think PSG simply haven't replaced Zlatan. Only good thing about this theory is PSG will pay big bucks.

Will drag this out of the Gueye thread.

Yes thats defo a factor for my theory also,, Zlatan is a big loss for them, would Rom fill that void with regards his name? I doubt it, also I think Rom or his agent or his Dad said the French league wasnt great.

Anyway, I think PSG will be looking for a new Striker in January, lets hope im wrong about who they will target.

Rom wouldn't fill the 'sponsorship' side of things like Zlatan did, I actually watched PSG a lot over the last two years simply for Zlatan.
When I say sponsorship, I mean the big name attraction, much like Madrids Galactico's, rumour is Beckham shirt sales covered both his and Zizou's transfer fees  crazy business from Real.

PSG are going to need to rethink their strategy, for a club that pays good wages and big fees, Zlatan, Van Der Wiel, David Luiz, Digne and rumoured Matuidi all had no problem leaving the French Champions. Whilst the money is good, the city is amazing and the stadium is pretty, the one thing PSG will suffer from is the Ligue 1 quality. I think they can only hope that Monaco and Marseille recover to make it interesting with PSG and Lyon. Maybe then will players like Romelu consider it a huge step up.

Worrying this is that if you soothe Romelu's ego enough he would make the jump to PSG if genuine interest is there.

It's interesting to me how people react to Lukaku. I honestly believe if he had never spoken about leaving Everton, he would now be talked about along with the pantheon of Everton greats. Instead, many people seem to be trying to protect themselves by pointing out his flaws incessantly (like somehow no other top strikers have flaws or inconsistencies in their game). Maybe they think if they continue being negative about Lukaku, if he does end up leaving Everton then they won't feel as bad. Personally, I don't view it as him wanting to leave Everton. I view it as him having ambition and wanting to reach the apex of his career. If Everton can provide that, he might stay. Otherwise, he'll leave. It's simple.

Lukaku is a really good striker but he isn't perfect. Big surprise, no one is. He's still probably the best goal scorer we've had in a long time and with him and Koeman we actually have a chance to crack the top 4 this year. If he gets injured, we have no chance. I'll still continue to get frustrated when the ball bangs off his shin and he misses easy goals but that won't make me forget how great he can be at times.

Some people enjoy being patted on the head, others dont, personally im not a fan of footballers breaking the illusion that they love the club and they play for the love of the game.

Hes an amazing goal scorer and we would struggle to replace him, that doesnt mean im going to accept him being an utter mutant acting like hes doing us a favour by staying.

When he is given through balls and pinpoint crosses like against Sunderland he'll score most of them. Imaging he gets that many chances (I counted at least 5 or 6 clear cut opportunities for him in the game, hence why he said he could have scored 5) in 50% of the games this season, he'll score 30 goals.

What would people think if he signalled his intention to see out his contract and leave on a free? Thus fulfilling the commitment he made to us and us to him when he signed, displaying as much loyalty as he agreed to but we don't get a fee for him.

Nah. How long he got left, two more years? I say wait a year, offer a substantially improved 5-year contract and give him until start of August to sign it, with a buy-out fee of 65m if is agent insists on it.

If he refuses, flog him to the highest bidder, even if it's for 45/50m and not the 60-odd we were talking about this summer.

Wouldn't have a problem with that. All I ask is that he help us achieve our goals by giving 100% whilst he is here. His stats speaks for itself and personally I want him here as long as possible. And we paid £28m which now seems like nothing. At the time I was blown away by how much we paid for a striker but where we are now I'd expect us to be at least matching that in finding as good a replacement as we can.

No mate you have this all wrong, its not about leaving Everton. Its about him thinking he is too good for Everton.
If he scores 30-40 a season and left to a European giant, I don't think anybody would have a issue with it (see Arteta for example). The issue is that whilst we all know how good he is/ can be its the fact he thinks he is bigger than the club - a stepping stone for him, whilst not really being consistent enough as it is. once he finds that consistency then he can move with all our wishes. His agent and father doesn't help matters.

So we expect loyalty from him but don't feel that the club should be obliged to honour their side of things?

Was taliking avout Rom after the Sunderland game and someone piped up ' why cant the idle **** play like that every week?' My reply was ' he does, but this week we created chances for him and he put them away'. Said it before, Bob Latchford was and idle so and so, but he came alive in the six yard box. Its not just about Rom, give him the service and he will do the business.

I think what we found out this summer was that the majority of top level players (and even a good portion of mid-level players) think they're too good for Everton. After the last 2 years of mediocrity, can we really blame them? Lukaku was widely regarded as our best player last season and had a massive price put on his head so it's hard to blame him for thinking he could do better.

Arteta was a bit different than Lukaku. He wasn't really pushing for the exit at the time and Everton had to sell someone to pay off bad debt. The blame for losing Arteta was always on Kenwright and the board for debt mismanagement.

On my poor stream I saw Lukaku pull the ball down out the sky and was surprised by it, trapped it dead. Camera zoomed in realised it was Bolasie lol. It's all well and good saying, "You know if we give Rom perfect crosses and through balls he's gonna score for fun". That's great but what about games when we're up against it and he's not gonna get "perfect" passes and crosses and the team needs an outlet and for the ball to stick when played into his feet?.
