Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku is the best striker we've had in ages and one of the best in the league. When he goes we'll remember how difficult it is to get a decent striker and what a benefit it is to have one. I thought he'd be off this season and we'd have wasted him under Martinez keeping us out of relegation. If he stays fit though then we have a potent weapon for Koeman to have a realistic run at the top 4. He'll probably out score Costa Ibrahimovic Rashford Giroud and Sturridge this season, probably Vardy too. That means only Aguero and Kane are his peers in the league even out of the team's 'above' us with their resources . So when you're moaning about his trampoline shins just think what the alternative would be. Chelsea and Palace have spent 30 mill on strikers who can't even displace a half fit out of form Rom for Belgium.

Saying that I wish he'd brought his boots in that United semi final because we'd probably have the FA cup in the cabinet now. Instead he missed a pen two one on ones and numerous pull backs across the goal.

On my poor stream I saw Lukaku pull the ball down out the sky and was surprised by it, trapped it dead. Camera zoomed in realised it was Bolasie lol. It's all well and good saying, "You know if we give Rom perfect crosses and through balls he's gonna score for fun". That's great but what about games when we're up against it and he's not gonna get "perfect" passes and crosses and the team needs an outlet and for the ball to stick when played into his feet?.

Then you've gotta hope he's in the mood to do this:

**trigger warning: 2 shots of Martinez**

Difficult to say where we would be without Lukaku. We have hardly had a game without him the last 4 seasons so we haven't seen how we would respond without his goal input.

Another thing to remember is Moyes teams more than held their own over extended periods with extremely limited striking options.

People ignore this mate and say it isn't his job.

When it quite clearly is.

Ye he's sh!te isn't he.

We'd have gone down without his goals.

Nobody in that squad would have been able to replace his presence or goal return.

Nonsense. If we sold him at any point, we'd have brought in another player and played a different way.

The "Without Lukaku we'd get relegated" argument has no merit whatsoever.

Would we go down without him this season? How did Moyes more than hold his own with the like if beckford bent straq amongst others?

What you are actually saying is Martinez would have taken us down and that may well be true.

Obviously no one knows it, but is a reasonable shout that without his goals last season, we might have had a rather worrying last few weeks of the season.

And with 11 effective men on the pitch the whole season, maybe we wouldn't have been in that position in the first place.

Swings and roundabouts. Fact is the ball doesn't stick to Lukaku, so combined with Martinez being a reckless idiot meant we were easy meat all year with the ball coming back constantly.
