Romelu Lukaku

Really poor timing for this to come out now, with the run & feel good factor that's we are on. If that's Rom's doing, really poor from him.

Has to of been tapped up, just has to

I would rather have him for the next 2 seasons and have him leave on a free tbh, it's not my money so not really arsed if we lost out on a potential 70m :p

Id be a terrible businessman.

If the proposed buy-out clause really was the reported £90m, then that will be the minimum bid the club would be expected to consider.
Unfortunately, might also be the sort of money the club will have to splurge on his replacement(s).

Publicly snubbing a contract this way is his loud and clear "Come and get me!" message to the world.
Let's face it, he has been saying the same thing ever since he signed for us. Surprised he didn't have it printed on his shirt.
He's ambitious, and wants to play at the highest level. Wants the fast track, and will no doubt go all out to get on it this summer.

He'll be doing all he can to promote himself through his goal tally now (good for us, if the crowd let him - disloyalty is a touchy subject for us fans).

My go at second guessing what's gone on.
  • Lukaku wants off. Shock.
  • Everton, currently can prevent this.
  • Raiola knows this, and wanted a new deal with a minimum fee release.
  • Both parties then, want/wanted a deal.
  • Everton/Raiola couldn't agree that fee. Raiola wanting less, knowing he has teams who'd pay an amount.
  • Raiola turned to the media - 99.99999% done stuff was solely to add pressure on Everton to accept their terms.
  • Everton won't budge.
  • Lukaku comments and todays media leak the last attempt to secure that contract renewal to avoid derailing EFC season.
I hope Everton stand firm, accept no deal with a low minimum fee. A deal now with a low minimum fee means Lukaku leaves in the summer and Raiola pockets from Everton in the immediate, and for the transfer.

He has 2 years after this one remaining. What's Lukaku worth to Everton a season?
It's already been confirmed what's happening. The board are forcing Lukaku out to finance the Summers transfer business and/or paying towards new stadium.

take out his goals though and what would those finishing positions be, dread to think where we would have been under Martinez without Rom.

We had decent European finishes before Lukaku arrived and will after. Maybe someone at Everton will buy a creative mid now that we won't rely on 3 holding mids and Lukaku to score all the goals.

Tbf to Rom he has been consistent since he first came here that his main aim is to play CL football. It was Rinola and Jim white saying he was close to signing. Cant remember Rom ever commenting on it previously

Seriously, no respect for the club or the fans; take away his number and his locker. Loan him to Ipswich.

Or we could use him to get us as high in the table as possible, then use the 80 or so million we get for him to bring in a striker that's not quite so talkative. And a CB. And a right back. And a goalkeeper.

In what way does him not signing a NEW contract mean him disrespecting the club and the fans?
He is ambitious and wants prices. Does Everton want that as well?

Atletico Madrid sell top strikers all the time.....and replace them with the best up and coming ones.

It can be done with right foresight and planning.

Mind you this is Everton.
