Romelu Lukaku

He was never going to stay, signing the contract would have only strengthened our hand when he eventually wanted out.

Looks like the time is now, he's not bigger than the club no matter how many goals he scored. He'll be fondly remembered, but it's not the end of the world
This in a nutshell. We lost Lineker in 1986 and won the league the season after.

I'm disappointed he's forced our hand as we now need to sell in the summer to maximise our return on him. But I can only see an English club paying the price unfortunately and I really don't want to see him playing against us at Goodison next season.

Anyway, no big surprise as you say. Spend the money wisely and we could end up in a better position, squad wise.

Hope the fans show our classy side and get behind him for the remainder of the season. He's been the best striker we've had here for probably 30 years.

It's already been confirmed what's happening. The board are forcing Lukaku out to finance the Summers transfer business and/or paying towards new stadium.

I know that moshiri is a fraud. Man handling Rom out the club. I heard Rom was about to get an efc tattoo as well and was singing grand old team as the security team frog marched him to his locker

I am not sure that I believe everything that is being reported in the last few days.

It's only a few day since the manager reported that a deal for Lukaku was close, but there was nothing in place for Barkley.
I think we should just sit on this for a while yet.

Really regret us not getting Gabbiadini now. Could have been a security blanket in the summer to give us time to sort a proper replacement.

My go at second guessing what's gone on.
  • Lukaku wants off. Shock.
  • Everton, currently can prevent this.
  • Raiola knows this, and wanted a new deal with a minimum fee release.
  • Both parties then, want/wanted a deal.
  • Everton/Raiola couldn't agree that fee. Raiola wanting less, knowing he has teams who'd pay an amount.
  • Raiola turned to the media - 99.99999% done stuff was solely to add pressure on Everton to accept their terms.
  • Everton won't budge.
  • Lukaku comments and todays media leak the last attempt to secure that contract renewal to avoid derailing EFC season.
I hope Everton stand firm, accept no deal with a low minimum fee. A deal now with a low minimum fee means Lukaku leaves in the summer and Raiola pockets from Everton in the immediate, and for the transfer.

He has 2 years after this one remaining. What's Lukaku worth to Everton a season?

What's the cost of Premier League survival? That.

I say take the money as soon as possible. Right now ROM is worth more than he ever has been. We want 90m. Someone will offer 65m. After negotiations it will be 78million or thereabouts plus a sell on fee due to his age. The sell on fee could be worth a packet in itself. Signs for X at 24years, plays for 3 years then signs for X for 125m & we get 20% say.

it's a shame it oh well, life goes on and we'll just have to find someone else who can do the job..He's been a great signing and if we get around 75m for him that's good business.

no player is bigger and more important than the club and we've lost great players before and we'll do so again and we'll sign some more great players and new hero's will be made.

Great finisher, on his day unplayable (although his record against the top teams is to say the least not the best) but if he truly wants out then couldn't care less, same when stones left. Hope if he does go then he has an alarming awful career after us, not bothered if that makes me bitter either, once they don't play for us then don't care.

Rs, arsenal, United, spurs, have all had this happen to them. Hopefully we do t let him go to a domestic team, otherwise we are just bending over yet again.
