Totally agree the timing of this is really strange. Yesterday's press release seemed to have been instigated by the club and now tonight's looks like lukaku side of the story .Things could get very bitter and nasty

I don't believe the club can control one of the most obnoxious agents on the planet who does as he wants and when he wants. The club were keeping a lid on it until he decided to tell the world it was 99% done.
Everton have done nothing wrong, they've negotiated in private with the player and his representatives

As I said mate, what comes out of his mouth will dictate hugely how the fans react, see moyes comments after leaving for an example, he puts the club in a little old Everton catagory whilst bigging himself and his ambition to play for a bigger and better club then it won't end well.
The timing is weird and unforgivable. All down to his agent. If he doesn't sign the contract on offer he can't complain if RK benches him for the rest of the season, instead working out a way to win without him. Not impossible. Rom has huge admiration from supporters, but to be honest there is no love. He is all about self and ego, his commitment to the club always in doubt.

Yes apparently a very intelligent young man mate by all accounts, he hired this agent knowing exactly his reputation and if he's following the advice in what he says and does then he's not some innocent pawn.

Ridiculous. For a kick off we have a manager who advised Lukaku to leave, and we have a club that have done nothing to stop the PR attack on Lukaku to sign (that Sky sports special programme was a disgrace the way they ambushed Lukaku on it...as just one example).

This is a mess now isn't it? Seems like the rumours grow stronger every summer but I'd kill to have the rumours we had last summer about him leaving. Seems all but done basically. Just seems funny that he would reject a contract with even the slightest possibility of CL play for us. If you're any kind of competitive player like Rom surely is, you would see that very slight possibility as an opening to make it happen. Can't imagine Rom is totally cynical about us getting into CL like most of us.
