Why on earth would we announce the fabled war chest 3 months before the window? Even assuming certain players stay?

The wages freed up, the commercial deals, whilst being accounting gymnastics, will allow Moshiri to sanction buys this summer. With him being an accountant and all that.

Yes, but mate, when we line up for next season and we can all SEE that there's been no out of the ordinary investment in the squad that reason for staying would be blown away. There's no way Lukaku and his agent are holding out for a unicorn to turn up.

Sorry, but the truth is more mundane: he hasn't signed a contract because there's not the right clause in it. When there is it will be triggered soon after.

Lets see.

Put it this way. The purchase of players is not dependent on Rom being sold. But that isnt the same as saying he wont be.

Its a small difference, granted, but I am comfortable that players we want IN, might come. (You can never be 100%). But they wont not come cos Rom wasnt sold.

Mate, we are Everton FC. We have an owner here looking to profit. Is he willing to hand some funds out for player trading over and above the tv money and player trading? Possibly. Will it be for signings that would lead to a player on the cusp of moving for guaranteed CL football to turn back from those CL clubs? I cant see it. I especially cant see it because there is a stadium to start tightening the belt for, and we cant invest heavily on both projects. We just cant. None of the financial elite above us would be spending big under those circumstances. Look at Liverpool who are merely paying off that new stand.

Will RL sign an extension? Yes, probably. Will he be here next season with Everton? No, emphatically not.
