Romelu Lukaku

be weird to do a farewell when he's still got about 5 more home games ha. I think it was a sign of thanks and affection tbh.
Same here. He must have known that his disclosure that he isn't signing new contract could have evoked a backlash from some fans. I think he was a bit relieved and probably grateful that the crowd gave him such a warm reception. I was actually quite proud to be a blue on Saturday.

Think they are correct. At this point he's just short of world class. Costa and Ibrahimovic have everything, intelligence, heading ability, goalscorers and both are superb at holding the ball up.

Lukaku has the size but at the moment is nowhere near them levels of protecting the ball, making it stick and holding onto it until you have support. He will do it now and again but he's very hit and miss at the minute. 90% of teams will sit back against Chelsea and Man U and Rom may just struggle a bit in them situations.

The problem is, I can't see many teams who would choose Costa over lukaku at this point, certainly Lukaku will cost more than Costa - so the statement that Costa is far better doesn't quite ring true.

A
Pundits and RS fans can link him with a move to them but deep down everyone knows they wouldn't spend the money that would be needed to buy him. FSG look to buy players with a future sale profit (not that they have done very well with that recently) and wouldn't sanction a deal anywhere near what Rom would cost. Chelsea and Man U are a totally different story though, if either want him we will have a fight on our hands to keep him.
Either of them or an established CL team come in for him, he's gone. Just don't think he wants to spend a year outside CL and tbf buying Yannick Bolasie was hardly a statement of our CL credentials

I think if Lukaku went to Chelsea he could leave Everton with respect and still be loved. However I fear if he joins Man Utd this would not be the case. He would be considered a traitor somewhat as I don't believe we should be selling to a fierce local rival.
Ideally he will stay but its looking bleak.

Is this taken directly from your recent game of Football Manager 2016?

1 behind Big Dunc's record.

One of, if not the best striker we've had in the PL era.

The team has to be built around him. He's now gotten to the point where he's considered world class (which he is) and thus we have to bring in other top players to give him his service. Easier said than done of course. If we get into Europe this season it'd be foolish not to go after someone like, say, Lacazette and even more ludicrous not to go all out for Gylfi.

If he was put in a side like Bayern or Barca he would comfortably score 30+ goals a season, not even joking. He's that good.

Real Madrid-bound methinks. Neither Morata nor Ronaldo have been cutting the mustard this season, and Benzema is just straight up garbage. They need a world-class goalscorer.

One of the few clubs that could afford him as well.

Without him in those 2 seasons we'd be battling relegation - possibly could've actually been relegated.

72 points though so it wouldn't matter anyway.

Just can't let this one go Neiz.

"Maybe we just keep Lukaku and Stones instead of Williams and Slimani"

You said:
I think they'd both be upgrades tbh.

"Bloody hell Neiz."

Your rebuttal:
And Lukaku has shown time and time again that he will only score when goals are handed to him on a plate, he is a liability otherwise, barely anything other than finishing to his game. There are about a million strikers out there we can get that would be better than Lukaku.

The roll continues my Friend.

Sorry but not quite sure that is anything other than a view through the blue tinted glasses.

Costa is far from everyone's cup of tea but there is no doubt many consider him, at this point in time, the finished article and contributes far more to a game that RL.

As for costing more again I am not sure that is correct for Costa is almost certainly happy to go to China whereas I very much doubt that Lukaku is even considering retirement in China I doubt he has any plans in leaving England for Europe and despite a reduction in non HG in Chinese squads irrespective a player costing more than another isn't a true measure of which player is the better.

Don't have access to the full story, but this is from it

There is no smoke and mirrors about Lukaku’s unwillingness to sign the most lucrative contract in Everton’s history at £140,000 a week. It is not about release clauses. The subject has not featured during discussions with Everton having made clear at the outset of talks that one would not be entertained.

They have steadfastly refused to insert them into contracts ever since reluctantly agreeing to Marouane Fellaini’s demands for an exit figure which led to his move to Manchester United in 2013.

This is purely about Lukaku, who is proving himself worth in the region of the £89 million fee United paid for Paul Pogba, wanting to play in the Champions League. It is an ambition of which he has hardly made a secret.
