Romelu Lukaku

Nice line that from Martinez. Spot on too. Everton need to be stepping on the heels of those taking the CL spots this season in order to place the seed of doubt in Lukaku's mind that he may be leaving a very good prospect for a CL spot next season in Everton.

If we finish where we are now, and a good few points a adrift of 4th, I'm convinced it'll settle the matter and he'll be off.

Fair play. He could have put the boot in, but didnt.

Probably part of his pay off agreement:coffee:

Seriously though, Martinez also has a vested interest in this and he probably realises it's in Rom's interest to continue his development with us, a team that plays to his strengths, rather than go somewhere that they don't and he ends up not getting as much game time.

Aye. Its also an unwritten rule that International managers dont wade into domestic club contract/transfer gubbins I guess.

These next 2 games are massive, this can show Lukaku how near or how far away we are.. Spurs was the same but because of a bad team selection and individual errors we didnt learn anything from that game.

While we are at it: Martinez Lukaku interview today:

Hoe schat Martinez de ontwikkeling van Romelu Lukaku in? (www.sporza.be)

He's become more mature and adult. His extraordinary finishing is his biggest quality. He already had that as a 16 year-old and continued working on that.

With Romelu it was a constant evolution. In the beginning he wanted to be all-round, but now he's starting to add elements to his qualities as a finisher.

People sometimes forget his age. He's only 23 and his stats are already impressive. It's a pleasure working with him.

SHOULD HE LEAVE EVERTON? As a player you need a challenge and you have to continue working. Anyway this doesn't mean that you have to change clubs or change competition. You just need a challenge.
Always liked that Martinez cat.

Yeah. But when he's asked the question by a reporter and his answer is "he needs to be challenged to improve himself, and he doesn't necessarily have to move clubs or competitions to do that"; he's not exactly rubbing anybody up the wrong way is he?. Well apart from Rom maybe.

It's clear from his own words that Lukaku drew a big conclusion.

You've already told the forum he is off on numerous occasions, so this is actually a bit of a step forward with you.
He is off. The only thing being spoken about there is planting a seed of doubt in his already made up mind, imo.

Another 'contradiction' that was actually consistent. *sigh*

Thing is, its not actually his decision, is it?
