Truthfully that sale didn't help them. Soldado, Lamela took up a big chunk of it.

The required change in tactics when he left seems to have made a big difference.

That is a very fair point. Basically a 1 man team and then spread the wealth essentially.

Lets hope so for us anyway... Of course we could sell Lukaku, buy no one/badly and plummet like a stone, but I think with the midfield quality we have we should be okay to at least tread water if he leaves..

Sorry if I'm covering old ground, but having just watched the highlights on the OS, I was wondering if anyone knew why Rom barely celebrated his first goal?

He just gets on with it when it's an equaliser. Went mad for the 4th as usual.

I'm honestly not so sure any teams will meet our valuation of him this summer. Thankfully, his agent has piped down and he seems to be out of that "I'm off to greener pastures" mindset. If he can keep the crap to a minimum, I see a team going all in for him in January.

Would love him to stay but if someone does offer us £80/85 million you would have to consider letting him go if he wants out.

The way I see it our squad right now is generally:

GK Department: poor needs 1 GK coming in

Defence Department: very poor needs 1x RB, 2x CB'S and 1x LB

Midfield department: Strong, no additions needed

Forward department: average, need 2x forwards coming In with Niasse/Kone leaving and Valencia only a loan.

If we lose Rom his transfer fee alone could bring us in 2-3 Forwards and probably a GK. then sales of the likes of Niasse, Cleverly, McCarthy, Deulofeu etc. can fund most of a new defence.

I just dont see him signing a contract and it would be a massive call to try and keep a player who wants out.

He'll be the summer transfer war chest. Just as Stones was last summer's.
