Romelu Lukaku

In 5 years, the bog average PL footballer will be valued around 50 million. Lukaku will be about about 250 million.
In today's money, (discounting at football inflation rate of say 20%)that is about 100 million.
But the TV money at the end of the next deal will only increase the inflation rate. I suggest each PL team (averaged over the 20) should receive in the vicinity of 225 million pounds TV money post 2019.
Thus , a price tag of 100 million quid on Lukaku is probably minimum 'fair' economic value.
. This might sound high, but soon, such fees will be commonplace

(And I am being conservative in my monetary expansion predictions above. China's central Bank is printing money like confetti...15 trillion USD equivalent since 2009. They will make footballers the richest sportspeople on the planet. When money is free, it doesn't cost anything to buy things/real assets with it.)

PPS whilst all the inflation is rampant, bank deposits will still only yield 2% per annum. Funny old world.

So, hoping this means we got some serious dough in the bank for the summer if we don't 'need' to sell him for less that a work record fee?

The same top class players we signed this season like Mata? Witsel? Carvalho? Oh wait?

The fact is mate we are not a top 4 team and we simply can't or won't spend £200k+ a week wages on the best players offering £40 million+ transfer fees.

Are things better than what they were under BK? of course but let's not pretend we are another Man City or Chelsea, or the Everton FC of the 80's. I'm a optimistic person but even I can see that with or without Rom next season we will finish around 5-7th as that's currently our level.

That's the facts, I can't change that neither can you mate, only the owners can and so far they haven't done that, That LB Kolasinc just signed for Arsenal as they have offered more wages etc.

The fact is Rom won't sign a new deal, I see it as either sell this season for £80-85 million or sell next season for £40 million.

As that extra £40-45 million could get us a Lacazette or towards 2 good strikers who actually WANT to be at the club then I would rather option A.

I honestly don't get why that's so controversial he doesn't want to be here ffs.

Didn't see that reported anywhere as the reason, care to share a link?

Ta.

Lets face it Rom hangs around with Pogba.

Pogba probably earns at least twice as much as Rom who's the leading scorer in the league.

Can understand why he's pissed off and wants to move.

Show some intent Everton and pay him more than the likes of lallana's of this world.

Good point.

Even if Rom signed the new deal, James Milner would still be on 40% more than him!

Crazy.

Excellent point.

Every part of your posts relate to the very term the club is trying its best to eradicate.... SMALL TIME.
Mindsets have to change , if you want to swim with the Big Fish you have to be a Big Fish. Some on here had the same mentality over Stones sale wanting us to cut and run a year earlier for 20/25 mil. That at a time Sterling went for 50 mil.
Utd shelled out near 90 mil for Pogba . Now ask yourself whats Rom worth.

His age & his goalscoring record dictates he's the hottest property in world football at the moment. I for one can see him even better in 2/3 years time.
You want this club back at the top ? Stop thinking small time , we have a player that if he stayed with the right additions to the squad we will be challenging for the league.
So if someone wants him they have to pay Real Top Dollar....thats what Big Clubs do.

Spot on. Some Blues are prone to underestimating the value of our biggest stars.

Rom has now scored as many goals for Everton as the great Alex Young, AKA The Golden Vision.

Just how good will this kid be in half a decade when he's 28 and in his prime?
