So let's see how the summer plays out. If Costa goes, Chelsea will have to buy a striker... If Ibrahimovic goes, Utd will have to buy a striker... If Kane leaves Spurs, they will have to buy a striker. If any of these situations unfold the club concerned will have to buy a striker to keep their fans onside... the prem's top scorer would be a prize acquisition in those circumstances, and the club concerned will pay through the nose.
If no-one needs him, then we keep him. Double his wages with a contract extension that includes a £80m release clause. He won't turn down a pay rise that big at the end of the summer, when no-one has moved for him at £100m. Sorry but Moshiri and Koeman are handling this very, very well.
Perhaps.I don't think he'll sign a new deal, money doesn't appear to be his driving force and he'll know if he plays one more season Koeman will sell him because the boss has made it clear with Barkley that players won't be allowed to go into their last year.
We turned down a £70m bid from Chelsea last summer. He has improved since last summer, as he has done every season since he went on loan to WBA. The fact that no-one went for him in summer 2016 does not mean no-one will want him in summer 2017 or summer 2018, because each team's situation changes over those time periods and the player himself may well keep improving. For instance, if Utd don't qualify for Europe then Ibrahimovic will probably leave, so they would be MORE likely to be interested in Lukaku; if they DO qualify for Europe, Ibra will stay with them so they will be less likely to go for Rom.
The mere fact that teams are sniffing around him demonstrates:
a) teams are looking for strikers
b) Rom has improved this season (as he has done every previous season)
and these two things combined help to drive up his value.
To a non-prem club, like PSG, I would grit my teeth and accept it. Give Celtic £20m for Dembele and Utd £20m for Rashford, cross fingers.I think we'll sell for 70m.
Source? We turned down a £70m bid from Chelsea last summer.
My apologies, I misunderstood you.I know they are, we're doing it right, not disputing that. Simply saying I personally can't see anyone shifting £100m to us this summer and hopefully I'm proven right![]()
Two people. Someone I worked for who had a meeting with an Everton board member just after the transfer offer was rejected. Then someone I know linked with Chelsea. I mentioned this at the time as well.Source?
In a hypothetical scenario where Utd lose Ibrahimovic (due to not getting CL) and Spurs / Chelsea / City all get CL and don't want to pay through the nose, Utd will go big in the transfer market to demonstrate "ambition" to their fanbase. From Rom's POV, presuming in this scenario Utd get EL football, he will assume that Utd can go further in the EL than we could, and will pay him more than twice what we can. It would be a move that his agent would heavily favour and push for.If Utd don't qualify for Europe why would Rom go to them when he has stated he wants CL football. Agree with point a) and b) but there are only a small number of teams in Europe who can afford the price tag probably - Man Utd, Chelsea, City, (Arsenal if they changed their spending policy), Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, PSG, or a Chinese club. So it's more a case of how much do any of those clubs want or need him? A deal over £90 million would make him the most expensive player EVER. Andrea Belotti, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bas Dost would probably all cost less and have similar scoring records this season and Belotti is the same age. Lukaku is worth £75 million + to Everton, I am just not sure many other clubs will feel the same or have the resources to meet that valuation. Lukaku wants to play CL, another season here to try and qualify with the back up plan of being in his last 12 months if we fail to and therefore being more affordable to more CL clubs seems like a sensible option for him (and he is not daft). Neither would this be a disaster for Everton.
Better than citing a twitter account, I'll grant you that. Two people. Someone I worked for who had a meeting with an Everton board member just after the transfer offer was rejected. Then someone I know linked with Chelsea. I mentioned this at the time as well.
It has also been widely reported that we rejected bids for Rom from Chelsea although the amount offered differs in those reports.
Dembele scores against the equivalent of league one teams. He'd be lucky to score 5 in this league and I seriously doubt Celtic would sell him for 20m. United wouldn't sell Rashford for that either. To a non-prem club, like PSG, I would grit my teeth and accept it. Give Celtic £20m for Dembele and Utd £20m for Rashford, cross fingers.
To a prem club however? Nope.

All in the league cup against the likes of Wycombe and Shrewsbury. That Dembele will go to Chelsea or Spurs and score about 4 goals.
