Romelu Lukaku

Yesterday showed how isolated Rom can become if we don't have somebody alongside him. It wasn't his best day, but he wasn't lazy either - he just got well-marshalled by Williams - who was excellent.

I know...

It's just odd.

He must be doing something, off the ball..something, because Rom looks a million times a player when he plays

He's good at holding the ball up, is Kone, which gives Rom freedom as a defender has to close Kone down.

It's the way to go, buy a forward who can play on that side and offer support to Rom.

Footballers are paid about 50k a week - more than many of the paying public at GP earn in a year. Spare me them "being disheartened" by the atmosphere...it's their job to create and sustain it.

So, is this a scientific equation you have worked out?

amount of money earned negates the affect on young players of large crowds of people shouting and moaning at their every mistake?

Support in good and bad during that 90 minutes as we all want the same thing. A win. Nobody is blaming just the fans but its a factor along with all the others.

Having said all that I don´t think Rom himself is too affected by all that. I think its tiredness pure and simple. We have now lost the backup options of Naisy and Kev. A loan striker would be nice. No idea who.

Not scientific, more idiomatic; as in putting the horse before the cart.

i think you can drop the ma from that word, and thankfully we haven´t had to worry about a horse before a cart since the days when our right side was made up of any two of Osman/Hibbert/Neville! ..shudder

Completely defeats the purpose of wanting the team to win.

Ross gets the ball, looks up and sees an option to pass forward. It gets blocked off by a defender and he is being pressed. He turns and passes back and the moaning and groaning starts despite it sometimes being the best option.

We wait for ages for another Rooney that actually wants to stay and play for us. He comes along and some people think its a smart idea to pay their hard earned money to take out their frustations in life on a young blue for having the audacity to not be perfect already.

Bad day at the office for all concerned yesterday, including Lukaku. To be fair, he's probably knackered after all the football he's played and the knock he picked up against City the other week. He needs a rest imo, unfortunately we can't afford to apart from the FA cup game coming up.

I don't doubt his importance to us but he's not world class. Any striker that needs 3/4 clear cut chances to score 1 is not world class. This was evident yesterday. but I blame that on the manager's reluctance to rest the only reason we have made it as high as 12th this season.
So you think we've created around 70 clear cut chances for Lukaku this season? Wow, imagine how many goals a real world class striker would have.
