Romelu Lukaku

Gutted but entirely unexpected sadly.

I will wish him the very best of luck if he does move on and hope the question will be asked at the highest level as to why we are not at least challenging for Europe this season.

That question should be asked this season, top 6 side, bottom half of the table.

For me players like Rom doing this, if he has that is, can only be a good thing, if those at the top who make the calls on Roberto's status haven't been thinking about replacing him then maybe wondering why players want to leave can be the start of the penny dropping.

It's sad that we have to admit we are not a top club who can't hold on to players, and nothing looks like changing in the near future.
Every player has ambitions. Sadly for Rom he couldn't realise those ambitions with us. But we are in good company, the RS couldn't keep hold of Suarez after they nearly won the league and united couldn't keep Ronaldo after they won the league and lost the champions league final. We had no hope of keeping rom, our league performances being the nail in the coffin for our hopes of retaining him. Even with 50m banked from his sale, I can't think of a player who would replace him and come up a team without champions league football to offer.

"Raiola, whose stable includes Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Mario Balotelli, told the Belgian media outlet Sudpresse he would never have allowed the 21-year-old to leave Chelsea for Everton and that Lukaku would have done a better job for José Mourinho’s team this season than Diego Costa.

Although that is pure conjecture, Lukaku’s new representative confirms his aim is to move the striker to a European heavyweight.

“If we had met each other earlier, he wouldn’t have played for Everton
,” said Raiola, who became Lukaku’s agent last month and immediately suggested Juventus should make a move for his client. “Maybe somewhere else, maybe he would still be at Chelsea. I want to be clear: Romelu is a better striker than Diego Costa and could have done the same as the Spaniard did this season. But the Chelsea directors had decided to buy another star than giving confidence to one of their young boys.”

Raiola added: “Juventus was interested in him last summer but I want to be clear: I don’t think one of the Italian teams can pay that amount of money for one player. It’s almost impossible. We have never said he would leave at the end of this season. We will see what happens in the summer, but the Everton directors don’t have to think Rom will play there for the rest of his career. Later on, he’ll play for one of world’s best teams: PSG, Manchester City, Manchester United or Bayern Munich. Big names, but nothing is impossible as Rom has great potential.” April 2015.

Leaves on our terms.

What is it with these Belguim lads on international duty and not being able to keep their traps shut?
To be fair after the season we've had you can't blame him for looking elsewhere. He may still be an EFC player next year but if not he should leave on our terms and we should get very good money for him. Hopefully Bobby isn't still here to waste it.

Most of the reason he wants out is down to underachievement and most of that is down to one person. His loss will be more disappointing that any final league position because, with the likes of him playing for us there is the prospect of greater tomorrows.. right now I am not convinced that Oumar is the answer.

Give him a huge pay rise and a get out cause after a season if we do not get into Europe, unless one of the big guns comes in for £60-75 million!! To Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, no English clubs!!

Where is he going Leicester?

Players come and go. I would much sooner we keep Rom but if not, get as much as we can for him and fire Martinez. He has failed and should be replaced by a top class manager if this side breaks up. We have dropped alarmingly in league position and that is unacceptable.
