Whatever it takes to keep the best Everton striker of the past 30 years, mate! I fear it'll be a long time until we see another CF of his calibre playing for us.
Yep this.

Having said that we should be able to afford a decent replacement - but I'd prefer to keep him.

He (Jordan) was just direct.

Came on and ran at players with pace and power.

Not saying he's a world-beater but he didn't look bad - and to get in that side at the moment you have to be half decent.
They have struggled for full backs.

Whenever I've watched Belgium there actually terrible & a large part of the reason for me was centre halfs playing full back.

That's true that they've struggled for full-backs.

They're far from terrible. But they rely a lot on De Bruyne and Kompany.

Just don't sell him... He has 3 years left... I don't agree with everyone saying that they wouldn't blame him for leaving... He has had one good season and now thinks he has the right to leave? We paid a lot of money for him and pay him well, we gave him games to improve and he was happy to sign a 5 year contract... If he turned out to be poor or broke his leg and was out for a year, do you think we would have the right to let him go? No we wouldn't would we. No player has the "right" to jump ship just because they have a good season. He owes us some loyalty and time... We have just been taken over and he should let us try to match his ambition not jump ship as soon as he can IMO.

We had our chance, everybody knew the minimum requirements to keep him at the club.
I,d be more concerned about who will be out the door with him this summer.

I personally think Lukaku and/or more than likeley just his agent are orchastrating all the rumours of moving because Rom and his agent have realised there only 2 years into a 5 year contract and Everton have suddenly got a billionaire invester, he's just pushing for a contract re-negotiation

I hope o_O

Let,s not forget it was the player who switched agents and hired the current one so the player is in the mix as well.
I don,t blame him one bit TBH, the man has potential why would he sit tight in a struggling team.

From their position, he either gets a (deserved) move to a CL club (though, I stress again, if he wants to be first choice then the options are thin... especially considering a club like PSG offer nothing domestically as they're league is so easy...) or, he gets a (deserved) better deal that will more than likely have a buy-out clause for next summer that is reasonable (£55mil, for example).

Juve couldn't afford Rom. Last time they spent anywhere near £50m was 15 years ago.

Only a few clubs can afford him and his wages and many of those have better options.

I'm reasonably sure Man U, Liverpool (and others) can "afford" to buy strikers. They have all failed to buy one as good as Rom in recent years. Why are we so damn special that not only do we have a striker better than most other teams now but we could get rid of him with years left on his contract and just easily get a replacement?!?!?

I bet lots of RS fans thought they should be able to afford a decent replacement for Suarez too.

I'm not sure why people keep going on about "affording" things as if that's our problem. Money wasn't our problem this summer when players turned us down for other teams. Money wasn't our problem this summer when Yarm didn't come here. We had the money and that was pre-Mosh.

There aren't very many players as good as Rom and those that are will not come here.

We supposedly have enough money now to sign players without selling someone. We didn't sell Stones.

Selling Lukaku as Moshiri's first significant act in charge? Utter garbage. He'd have to be insane and we'd have to be insane to sit by and talk about "that's a good piece of business" as we lose the best striker we've had in decades only to start picking through garbage along with all the other teams who have lots of money and no striker.

Repeat: This summer there will be lots of teams with lots of money and no striker. What makes us so damn special? We couldn't beat West Ham to some signatures this summer and then we're going to finish bottom half, sell our best player, and then attract a new striker to us over all the other teams looking for a striker?!?! What world do you all live in?

"Prefer to keep him" ... in the sense that I'd prefer Everton win over lose yes I'd prefer to keep him. "Riot if we can't keep him" is a more accurate assessment of my mood.
