I think you're right. Of the 25 goals would likely have scored this season, I think between them Bolassie, Klaassen, Sandro, DCL, Lennon, Niasse, Gueye, Schneiderlin and McCarthy might match the tally with their goals added together between now and 2021.

He asked to leave and the board had a chance to negotiate a fair deal unlike someone ran down his contract.

He also never made a secret that he wanted to play at the highest level possible (which some found disrespectful). I genuinely believed he waited to see if the new owner would come up with some dough and real plans to go forward as a team. Just like City did.
And when that didn't happen, he left. Without signing the improved contract his manager wanted to make even more money.
