Romelu Lukaku

Being serious about Lukaku's weight gain for a moment, is he on steroids? It's not like Jags and Williams. I mean, Jags has tits and a gut. Lukaku doesn't. Did Mourinho give him some kind of hardcore weight training regime or something?
He's on the same diet as luke shaw.

If you think about how big he was at 14, he just has a naturally massive physique. Hes getting into his mid twenties and he has more of a bodybuilder build than anything. He won't be on a monster diet, just his genetics

Yeah, I've seen pictures of young Lukaku and he was a big teen, and he said in that Players' Tribune article he often got mistaken for older. Barkley's the same, I saw a picture of him playing football at 13 with another boy, and Barkley towered over him.
cutting off his dreadlocks is the worst mistake ever
dreadlock rom was an absolute animal
The Belgian Samson.

He was hotter with long hair too.

He was a far better player when he was with us. He was absolutely woeful today. Literally offered nothing and his effort looked pretty poor.

His size just doesn't look right. He's slow and looks to have lost his agility. I don't understand why he bulked up so much. Was it a personal decision, was it Mourinho?

Wouldn't be surprised if he leaves united this summer.

According to the Fat Man himself, he 'bulked up' in preparation for the Wold Cup last summer, when he was under a fitness regime organised by Roberto "I'm a qualified physio" Martinez.

Ah yes, the same fitness regime where our players kept getting injured and Baines got so fed up he went off to train with our old fitness coach. Well played, Bob.

A load of lies from a player who is a proven liar.

So.... in the 6 weeks leading up to the world cup he ate a calorie surplus and did a weight training regime that packed on in excess of 10 pounds whilst doing cardio?

Complete and utter nonsense. In terms of lean gains the most he could pack on in that time would be 3 pounds of lean mass which wouldn't look much.

He basically pigged out. Yeah.... let's blame Martinez for lukaku getting fat in 6 weeks.....where the weight has remained for a further 10 months.......

If you watch this video closely you can see Martinez throwing French fries on his plate saying "that's phenomenal Rom, more mayo, get it round your face, eat like you've never seen food.... the eye of the tiger"

The amount of scapegoats used to explain Rom's utter lack of footballing skill is astounding. Martinez spends a couple of weeks a year with him and it's all his fault. Not to mention the midfielders who don't give him service, the managers who don't play him in the right system and the physios. If it wasn't for other people, he'd be Pele.

Hilarious isn't it.... grown men excusing their over enthusiastic hero worship of a player who a few of us seen as nothing more than a glorified Micky Quinn. It's always someone else's fault when something gets in the way of Lukaku getting lauded as a great footballer.

Here's the thing...... EVERTON DONT WIN A TROPHY FOR HAVING HAD A PLAYER WHO GOES ON TO DO GOOD THINGS. And he hasn't.... he's a bottler.

I was gutted when we lost Rooney at 18.... Probably still the best player I've ever seen under the age of 20.... not because he was a goalscorer because he actually wasn't prolific. He was just a brilliant player and you knew he would be great even if he didn't improve... it was enjoyable just watching him. As it happens I don't believe he fulfilled his talent but he was 20 times the player lukaku could ever dream to be. Put an 18 year old Rooney in Martinez team of 2013 and he would have banged in 25 and probably set up as many.

Compare it to selling lukaku at the price of £75m to £90m..... absolute robbery on our behalf. But why do some fans try and protect the memory of him being some superstar for us??? Are we that deprived of glory that we have to paint a player who almost looked embarrassed to play for us to be some sort of world class talent? He was bang average and these fans are embarrasing the tradition of our club.

Ole solksjaer basically said yesterday that changes will be made in the summer.... lukaku will be gone along with a few others. Where? Who knows but I'm guessing United will take a good £30m hit on him.

With you on everything apart from this. Always find it weird when people say Rooney didn't fulfill his talent. All time top scorer for England and Man United, with a trophy cabinet full of every domestic honour many times over and all the European trophies to boot. He did this despite spending a chunk of his peak not being played in his best position to fully maximise Ronaldo, showing an adaptability and selflessness Lukaku could only dream of. To top it all off, Rooney would be praised for his consistency of brilliance over the course of 7 or 8 years if it wasn't for the longer and more exceptional careers of Ronaldo and Messi. This is no dishonour to Rooney, as those two have pretty much annihilated every footballer in history in terms of stats and honours.

Sure, go for it!

What he achieved was a given.... as I say I've not seen a better player under 20 and that includes Messi.

Messi is a good barometer for Rooney - there wasn't a great deal between them at one time. Rooney for me didn't look after himself, weight, smoking, drinking etc.

Of course he's had a great career.... I knew he would but with more application he really could have done more.
