Romelu Lukaku

Campbell is my favourite Everton player of all time. I love how he still comes back to Goodison from time to time. And I'm sure Amokachi, Yak and Pienaar are very loved too.

There probably is a bit of racism aimed at Lukaku from some of our stupider fans but not all the criticism of him is racist. Actually, I've seen far worse from Man United fans. Calling him an n-word and a gorilla and stuff.

Anyone ever read the footy mag 90 Minutes? I used to read it in the 1990s. Much better than Shoot or Match. Anyway, they did a regular feature in which they interviewed fans after a match on a certain topic. One week it was Everton and (I think) West Ham fans after a game.
The question was about black players and racism. All the fans interviewed said they had no truck with racism. Except one Everton fan who, although he had "no problem" with black players, thought the fact we didn't have any was a kind of tradition and there was no need to change.
In all my (admittedly limited) match-going experience, I've only heard one example of overt racism. Earl Barrett being called a "lazy, black b*****d" by a bloke in his 70s. Never heard any racism directed towards Lukaku.
My take is that most Everton fans are generally working-class, lefty liberals who have no time for racism. Any anger towards Lukaku is because of his rather petulant attitude towards us. Always seemed to have his eyes elsewhere.
Despite all that though, probably our best striker since Lineker in 1985/86.

Probably racism.

There’s a reason you’re on a ban.

Kevin Campbell is one of the most popular players in my lifetime of watching the Blues.

So that shoots that old chestnut down :)

Lads whatever has gone on in days gone by, the feeling towards Lukaku has nothing to do with skin colour.

Baffling how people come to the conclusion his lazy, petulant, arrognant behaviour whilst here and since leaving have anything to do with his skin colour,
Bet the same people think Barkley's such a melt because his grandad's Nigerian....
Idiots

I wish we were on better terms with him. He's our top Premier League goalscorer, was here for years and was absolutely class whilst he was. Then he moved on for mega-money and to play in the Champions League.

The reason the relationship is so bad is down to him, not Everton supporters. He can't cup his ear at us when he scores in his first game against us and then think we're not going to give him grief when he comes to Goodison. For quite an intelligent lad he isn't half brain dead.

See I would have him back but his ego wouldn't allow it.
He'd be a different option to dcl and has proven he can slot in worse teams.
He'd need to adapt and gain dcls workrate to fit in and I don't think he's got it in him.
Would be a decent option when teams park the bus as I'd much rather see him coming on than tosun or niasse

I don't see why anyone would want to give Lukaku abuse, at the end of the day he gave us quite a few seasons and could have left a season earlier iirc. He made us some decent cash too. The only problem I ever had with him was with the statements he made while on international duty and because of that I will happily laugh at the situation he now finds himself.

I would give him a bit of advice though, if he keeps on deleting pictures at previous clubs because the supports give him a bit of needle then he isn't going to have much to look back on when he finishes. Can't see any set of fans universally loving him.

Don't hate him, Not surprised he shushes fans etc he was never connected with Everton like that anyway we was just a stepping stone for his move to United so it's one of them.

I don't want him back because his career has completely stalled. But I still have a lot of time for the lad and appreciated his goals. He's the only everton forward I've seen in my lifetime who I expected to score when through on goal.

He needs to be a little less sensitive though over what was clearly pretty tame stick he was taking.
