Romelu Lukaku

He got us how much money? It’s not his fault we brought in Rooney, Klassen, etc. Life is too short to hold on to petty grudges. It’s like Coleman said- maybe a bit too big for his boots. I don’t think he is a bad guy. I’m over it

I don't want him back because his career has completely stalled. But I still have a lot of time for the lad and appreciated his goals. He's the only everton forward I've seen in my lifetime who I expected to score when through on goal.

He needs to be a little less sensitive though over what was clearly pretty tame stick he was taking.
It was tame but Rom is likely in a bad place just now - taken a step up that he (and most of everyone else) thought was his birthright; instead he's joined an absolute basket case of a club that has crudely exposed his limitations - the majority of his own fanbase, let alone us, seem to genuinely hate him. For the first time in his life the trajectory of his career has stopped going up and has started to bomb, so some mental fragility might be expected here and there.

So I'm sure he's crying all the way to the bank, sympathy for the multi-millionaire manchild etc etc, but fact is he'll be rocked by what's happened to him at Old Trafford. He was fond of going on about mental strength and personal improvement, IIRC, so be interested to see if he really has it. Fit CL-standard centre forwards do not sit on the bench.

Campbell is my favourite Everton player of all time. I love how he still comes back to Goodison from time to time. And I'm sure Amokachi, Yak and Pienaar are very loved too.

There probably is a bit of racism aimed at Lukaku from some of our stupider fans but not all the criticism of him is racist. Actually, I've seen far worse from Man United fans. Calling him an n-word and a gorilla and stuff

Other than the odd idiot you get everywhere, we do not have a racist fan-base. Lukaku has his talents, more limited than he thinks. His attitude towards the club was appalling and therefore he tends to be disliked. It is that simple, race does not come into it.

I hope 4-0 has taught him that a lack of respect will bite you back at some point. Next thing is to do that at Old Trafford to reinforce the message.

Anyone ever read the footy mag 90 Minutes? I used to read it in the 1990s. Much better than Shoot or Match. Anyway, they did a regular feature in which they interviewed fans after a match on a certain topic. One week it was Everton and (I think) West Ham fans after a game.
The question was about black players and racism. All the fans interviewed said they had no truck with racism. Except one Everton fan who, although he had "no problem" with black players, thought the fact we didn't have any was a kind of tradition and there was no need to change.
In all my (admittedly limited) match-going experience, I've only heard one example of overt racism. Earl Barrett being called a "lazy, black b*****d" by a bloke in his 70s. Never heard any racism directed towards Lukaku.
My take is that most Everton fans are generally working-class, lefty liberals who have no time for racism. Any anger towards Lukaku is because of his rather petulant attitude towards us. Always seemed to have his eyes elsewhere.
Despite all that though, probably our best striker since Lineker in 1985/86.

Totally agree. This is also where the RS fall down as they have a load, and I mean a lot, of dodgy fans who seem to be much ore right leaning.

I think Rom was a great striker for us, his record and the fee United paid speaks volumes. I too "enjoyed" the "fatty" chant as an Everton fan who didn't want to see him play well against us. He always came across as an intelligent man who the other players seemed to like. He obviously isn't fat, but seems to have spent too long in the gym and is over muscled and too bulky. It is a shame if Sunday has spoilt his memories of Everton - deleting his photos etc as generally old players have good feelings towards us and speak fondly of their time here and I think that is a good thing

He was decent to very good for us. He seemed to yap too much about wanting to play elsewhere and always seemed to care more for Rom than for Ev.

He hasn't improved at all at United from what I've seen, still has the first touch of a trampoline and is a solid 10-15 goal a year scorer. We were fortunate to sell him the year after he got 20+. Still we haven't replaced his goal threat, which is the real tragedy in all this.

I've got to be totally honest - I still like Rom. Loved him when he was here up until the day he left. He was great for us, all said and done.

Not a big fan of the stick he got from the Gwladys on Sunday. Those same fans sang his name every other week.

Wonder how much we actually got for him. Guessing the alleged £90M was based on league titles & all sorts of other targets that will never be achieved.
