Romelu Lukaku

He needs the team to be setup one way and one way only. You almost have to play with 10 men and try not to include him in any build up, just get the ball to him in the box or in front of him.

He’s always been pathetic with his back to goal but he’s a boss slotter and you can’t deny him that

I play golf with an ex tranmere Rovers player... very good player in his day and managed a few clubs.

I was talking about strikers and lukaku in particular and the need to set up the team to indulge their liabilities.

He spoke about Aldridge.... said that he never passed the ball to Aldridge unless he was in the box because unless it was getting a shot away he would lose the ball. Basically to accommodate this the team had to play around him. It put a burden on the team again st better sides as you need your front man to be able to help take the pressure off.... win the ball, hold it up, allow the players behind to get back up.

I'd mention his name but aldo will probably find out and get his crew to go round to his house and beat him up.

Great for us. Looked like he'd go on to become a world beater.

It's all gone wrong at United and he'll likely start again elsewhere, shed some of the muscle, and go on to have a good career, albeit not quite reach the heights that we thought he might.

The best thing he could do, for his career, is get away from that absolute tool Pogba.

It was tame but Rom is likely in a bad place just now - taken a step up that he (and most of everyone else) thought was his birthright; instead he's joined an absolute basket case of a club that has crudely exposed his limitations - the majority of his own fanbase, let alone us, seem to genuinely hate him. For the first time in his life the trajectory of his career has stopped going up and has started to bomb, so some mental fragility might be expected here and there.

So I'm sure he's crying all the way to the bank, sympathy for the multi-millionaire manchild etc etc, but fact is he'll be rocked by what's happened to him at Old Trafford. He was fond of going on about mental strength and personal improvement, IIRC, so be interested to see if he really has it. Fit CL-standard centre forwards do not sit on the bench.

Not the first time, being shipped out to West Brom was the first shock to him IIRC.

He will always get goals, but like myself and others, we noticed the limitations in his game which would be under the spotlight at United. He won't grab games by the scruff of the neck and improve play like players at the level he thinks he is. (Apart from the Chelsea goal, which was clearly a one off)

True Phil, that was a definite knock for him, which tbf he responded well to at WBA. But I don't think anyone really thought less of him for not breaking into the Chelsea squad as a youngster, as it was next to impossible to do so under Mourinho. Now you've got the whole country taking the pish out of him. Honestly if you stopped 100 people on the street and asked them 'is Lukaku a good player?' I reckon the majority would say no.

I've got a sneaky feeling that he will in fact recover from the ManU circus, go somewhere else and be good. It's open season on him at the moment so his flaws are seized upon and blown up beyond proportion - he was aggravating at times with us but fundamentally he's a focussed and serious minded player IMHO.

Yeah definitely, quoting his hero as Drogba so a lot of people assumed he would be like him due to his size, but that's evidently not the case as he lacks the aggression etc, and scoring from 30 yards.

I sadly cannot see him starting for a title winning team, he lacks the other qualities to play good football and actually hinders the team. Could find another champions league team at best.

Yeah, I believe you Rom, honest.

"Serie A is my dream move!"

I can't see a Juve going in for him and Napoli have Milik who's a better player. That leaves Roma and the Milan clubs. I don't think Roma could afford him, Inter have Icardi and Milan have just signed Piatek.

Good luck with that Rom...

It's not like Italian teams leave a lot of space in behind either. Look at how Ronaldo's goal stats have gone down since moving to Juve. It would be a big mistake going there, much more suited to Belgian/Dutch leagues.

Could see him replacing Icardi at Inter.
