Romelu Lukaku

Was it Palace in the final that year? At the time, I don't even remember being excited about being in the semi final because we were so embarrassingly bad.

The game against Liverpool the Wednesday before was the worst Everton performance of my life time by far and hopefully always will be.
Yes, Man United v Palace. Alan Pardew did that weird dance. Was that derby the 4-0 horror show?

Oh Jesus wept not that again

Origi came in as number 9 for Liverpool 4-0 down and did a great job leading the attack against a Barca defence.... ran them down, bullied them, held up the ball brilliantly and showed an ability to beat a man.... scored 2.

When have you ever seen lukaku give that level of performance and effort? I can think of one game in league cup vs Chelsea and he's not even close to that anymore.
.

He may have got 15 against dross... our team would have scored far less overall. We would have got less points, the likes of Bernard, Richarlison and Siggy would be looking to kill him.

Liability.

Even when Belgium play poor international sides you can see hazard and de bruyne ignore him for play that isn't in the box.... can't be trusted.
And oddly the Prem has dross who we just don't beat... we'd have got less points?

Do you mean like Newcastle at home.Like we always beat the fodder....oh wait.
No I mean like we've got better and he's got worse he's not coming back and he disses us let's move on.
Furthermore Newcastle aren't fodder they have a well organised team and I think Rafael will spend his rumoured war chest well and improve them further
I hate to admit it Davids but the Spanish waiter is actually a good manager.

Oops forgot Huddersfield a few more points against the fodder and we might have made the EL. Don't want him back but the idea that we wouldn't have been better with a goalscorer with his record is odd to say the least.

He would upset the balance of what you've got to admit was a mostly successful side overt the last dozen or so games.
We need a grafting striker who is flexible enough for us to change our shape which he is not, I liked him when he was here, but no he wouldn't have improved us in the last third of our season after we found the right formula and I don't find it odd at all, it's just a different opinion to yours.

Didn't realise how good we had it with Rom - his performance in the Quarter Final against Chelsea, the EL against Wolfsburg and Young Boys, his goals against the likes of Bournemouth in the 6-3 and 3-3 Derby.

Now we have Calvert Lewin and Tosun yet some fans still call him garbage - LOL

You've just listed about 80% of his genuinely good games here. I'd have included against City too.

That's the exact problem with him.

The problem is we wont be buying anyone better. Even in his poor games more often than not he would score.

That 3-2 Newcastle defeat - no way would he have not bagged for example. We are finished until we replace him and im very shocked if we will as the top strikers want CL football/massive wages which we offer neither.

This is where you are wrong in my view - you place too much emphasis on his goal output and not enough emphasis on just how much of a massive liability he is to a top club.

We will be buying better. Hell, a fit Welbeck is a better player than Lukaku, and I think Welbeck is crap. It's not that hard to buy a better forward than Lukaku for the style we're looking to have. Callum Wilson would be perfect and he's ten times the player Lukaku is.

Maybe the fact that you managed to pretty much name all his great games in by listing 3 teams should make you realise what a fraud he was....

I can name crystal palace (when we had champions league in our own hands), Liverpool (Martinez sacking), man United (semi final), man United (paddy mcnair debut), Leicester (when he spent more time wondering why he wasn't a league winner) as some of the most abject displays from a striker.... that's not even scratching the surface.

Yet I got much more enjoyment watching us with Rom up top than I ever will watching DCL, Tosun etc.

As I said if we got out and sign Werner, Haller or the like in the summer happy days I'll join in with the Rom bonfire - however more than likely we'll be bringing in some punt from Spain/Italy who if we are lucky might score 10 goals a season when we need someone who scores 18-20 goals+ a season to push us on.

I rarely got enjoyment from watching lukaku barring the handful of games that hyped him out to be "That level of player"... the Chelsea game, the city game vs mangala, Liverpool first derby....

The reason is he was conning the fans, some fell for it. Those with a bit of a keener eye seen a player who was taking the p1ss.... disgraceful effort levels, awful touch and passing, lost the ball so often...

Ever heard any of his ex team mates speak well of him? The likes of Naismith and ossie weren't kidded,

Tosun isn't fit for our league, DCL is just missing a bit of confidence in front of goal but I would play him over lukaku every time now. When has lukaku ever linked up play, held up the ball, won duels, recovered the ball like DCL?
