Romelu Lukaku

I miss the days of Lukaku taking it round the keeper and slotting, truly the best in the world at doing that on his day. Still I can take solace in THIS being the year that DCL knocks in that illusive 20 goals. #hisyear

Funny this thread.... it seems the Rom fanboys and DCL boo boys are mutually exclusive.

It's akin to selling a Ferrari that breaks down every other day - for 2 times the market value and whilst driving to and from work in a BMW that was given to you - you spend half your time telling your mates that the reliable BMW doesn't quite have the looks or engine sound of the Ferrari. Meanwhile the new Ferrari owner is stuck on the M1 flagging down cars.

Get a grip.
I’m neither of these things, but I think thus is all getting a little silly.

Ya see mate it's nothing to do with any of that statement, really take a break have a kitkat.

Nah your alright mate.... I'm keeping things into context. This is the lukaku thread

1. We've sold United a dud, £90m for a player who has had far more forgettable performances than memorable ones. He went to United to supposedly take them to the next level - he's took them down a level. They won 2 trophies before he arrived and he has taken them from champions league to Europa.
He has United fans posting montages of awful passages of play. Falling over the ball, missing from 6 yards the lot.

2. Somehow to appease the lukaku criticism DCL is bought in for a classic bit of "whataboutery" that would leave the most kopite of kopites proud.... funny thing is... in his very formative stage of development DCL has actually delivered a goal in a significant final - the under 21 world cup. Like a 15 year old lad - as soon as lukaku approaches a semi he goes missing.

Who knows what will happen with DCL, my money is on him having a very good career. He will develop his to having skills to a satisfactory level and make a difference with his all round play. Lukaku? Well, I and a few others predicted how it would be till now and it ain't gonna get any better for him. Adebuyor levels of decline.

What an amazing analogy

What an amazing analogy

You actually don't offer anything in response to structured criticism of your former poster boy?

It's all pretty much teenage style sniggering and sarcasm directed at a young lad who's progressed and may yet continue to progress to a very good level. No one has a crystal ball but the only things we have to go on is this:-

1. His attitude is spot on and that has enabled him to develop his game to that of a very good support striker as a bare minimum.

2. We won't have to worry about him spitting the dummy out cos he's not the main man. He will come on in the 70th minute or start a game with the same intensity.

He's the antithesis of the bloated Belgian.... a player who many predicted big things for but those with a keener eye seen past the excited WWF style teenage fans getting all giddy at this 6ft 4 hulk of a striker who could smash through players - telling everyone what a beast he is in his dreadlocks.... what we seen is a clumsy oafish brat who sulked his way through games.

Hopefully we sign a striker in the summer and allow the likes of DCL the opportunity to carry on development without the boo boys getting on his back the way they did with Barkley, Davies, and no doubt Dowell if he has the audacity to play if selected.

The only connection I have with DCL is that I feel sorry that the kid has to endure prattish fans who slate him just cos they never rated him to start with but support an ex striker who pretty much hated us.

1. And 2. are the same thing @pedro1976 , that old intangible "he has a good attitude". You essentially concede that Lukaku is better at everything else, which to be fair is absolutely right.

Glad to have helped you on this journey.

Did I? Where did I concede that???

I've already stated clearly that the only advantage lukaku has over DCL is finishing..... so how have I by saying he's got a good attitude conceding?

I think by making that post you are conceding that you are lacking a bit mate ....

Remember when our fans called him Blukaku.

Some of my best times in recent years watching the blues was seeing Rom in dreads smashing the opposition- his first season on loan was magical then the euphoria when he signed the following summer.

Still love his final season where he literally was one of the top 4 strikers in the league - class.

Bring him home.

Finishing being the key attribute of a striker.

You've finally got there Pedro. Well conceded.

Bless ya. If only he was as fearsome as he looked eh...

The reality was that he used to get put in the back pocket of centre halves like paddy mcnair.
