Romelu Lukaku

I think it's more "I can't believe how many more points we didn't get despite his goals" that's the key......

Expert at scoring when 1 or 2 nil up.
Is he not meant to score or something. Maybe he doesn't score at 1-0 to make the game safe and the opposition equalise and we draw instead of winning. It's an utterly ridiculous point.

What is ridiculous is that you have conveniently forgotten that the point of the argument is that some people rave about lukakus goal stats....

The counter argument is that he's a flat track bully who tends to score when games are 1 or 2 nil up..... which has been proven.

8 of the last 10 posts in here have been from @pedro1976 while his head rolls down the road about Lukaku being much better than DLC.

Lol.

I could do that multiquote nonsense but can't be bothered. Read and be educated..... if you listened to the likes of myself 4 years ago you may not feel so wounded that you put all your footballing hero worship in the lukaku basket.

Not really, you're essentially the forum's Steve Walsh. We've sold a superb goalscorer for £90m and ended up with the useless 1 in 7 DCL for two seasons.

Come on Pedro. Pick your head up.

Proven? Has it?

By my reckoning Lukaku scored our first goal 10 times in his last season here, and 11 times the season before. For comparison, Calvert Lewin scored our first goal 4 times last season, and Richarlison 9. So your 'proof' appears to be anything but.

There's load of valid criticisms of Lukaku, so I've no idea why people feel the need to criticise him for made up stuff.

How would he have got 15-20 for us? He doesn't create goals himself, our attacking mids only got into threatening positions and situations through DCL doing the hard work and bringing them into play.

Lukaku is not suited to our side.
Did you watch many games last season? Quite a few chances went begging. But obviously you have an agenda so won't have noticed.Odd as it might seem when Lukaku scored goals for us I was genuinely happy and he scored some beauties. His off pitch ego driven interviews wound me up no end,so finally I wasn't so sad to see him go,and the profit we made was a bonus too. You can look at his scoring record in isolation and make the case that they were all against lower level teams. But take a closer look at the goals he scored when he first came on loan. You remember the season when we got our record Premier League points total and even some of the goals that on paper don't look that important won us points in the context of the game they were in...
"Lukaku's trickery set up James McCarthy for Everton's second before the Belgium striker doubled his tally when Simon Francis' suicidal back pass gifted him the opportunity to loft the ball over Artur Boruc for a 3-0 half-time lead.
Joshua King's brace gave Bournemouth hope but Lukaku added two more inside the final 10 minutes to put the game to bed, although there was still time for Harry Arter to add a third for the visitors and Ross Barkley to slot in Everton's sixth.".

Yeah, but he's not a lazy lardarse
I'm old enough to have watched both Jimmy Greaves and Denis Law,both while not carrying any excess poundage seemed to get through their moderately successful careers without too much tracking back and defending from the front etc.

They weren’t his prettiest but his two goals at home vs Liverpool in Martinez’s season had me really believing that we were going get a derby win....

I'm sure people will be able to quote a post or two to try to prove a point, but I don't remember that many posts critical of his on field performance (other than his poor hold up skills) when he was regularly banging in goals for us.

Not too sure about Greaves, but they did, you just missed it. Law with Charlton was often found, one on each post defending corners for United.

In lukakus last season here take away his goals and we theoretically finished in the same spot. Point and case.
