Romelu Lukaku

I'm legitimately happy he's gone, because although we're crap right now, we need to build a team that can play quality football consistently with a varied approach. Lukaku is the opposite of that.
For all my attempts at winding up in here, Tubey strolls in and outdoes them with one easy post.

Assuming that above is wind up like.

And that's it in a nutshell, and all I've ever said on the matter.

It's also why United won't get near the title with him starting every game, and why I said Ibrahimovic is the far better fit for games like today.

Lukaku is a fair weather player who will score goals for fun in certain scenarios, but offer you next to nothing in general play and be easily nullified against quality opposition. So he turns from an asset to a liability week to week - you don't win titles by having effectively 10 men on the pitch in certain games.

Are you sure about that?

Certainly am. Incredible goalscorer, too often anonymously crap other than his goals, can't build a winning team around such an asset that is also a liability because it is wildly inconsistent to do so.

Said this before the game today.

Today's the day I've been waiting for with Rom.

Prove me wrong; dominate a vulnerable back line in a big game.

Was waiting for him to completely prove me wrong. And look what happened.

With him in your team you are very one dimensional in how you play. He's the focal point, he's direct, balls in behind and hell score. He's not a fluid type of player who can play as a dynamic forward unit like united are used to. I do think he'll do well there and they'll win some pots but at some point he's other going to have to do more than score goals or they will get someone better.

When you compare him as a main striker to other strikers in the league like aguero and Kane, he's so far behind them in what he offers the team all round. I was gutted when he left, but also relieved in a way that we didn't have to hear our club being dragged through the mud at every international break. Definitely wasn't happy about him leaving though, would much rather he stayed because I think he could have developed and added some more strings to his bow with us while we are going through a similar sort of phase then moved on.

Yeah most of that completely spot on. Where I disagree is that he'll develop - I think he'll continue to become a more and more lethal goalscorer, but he'll never learn the technique and awareness to be a good player off the ball and with it to feet in general play; that boat has long sailed.

Your analysis of his game though is one I completely share.

If that's how they want to act. The majority near me just support the team, including me, there is one lad on the back row who despises Koeman and if we ain't winning by 50 he starts piping up and he's absolutely savage.
By that sake token if I pay my road tax then I can be obnoxious to others wihout reprise?
