Romelu Lukaku's Expectations

His goals helped us into Europe . I would love to see him here next season. Then hopefully sign him permanently as we qualify for the Champions League.

But I think we will miss out and will have to look elsewhere for a goalscorer. But after the world cup all will be revealed. A good world cup for him would almost certainly put him out of our price bracket
 
It seems from these recent articles that the only reason Chelsea want Lukaku around is to cash in on him, with very little intention of playing him.

From a personal perspective I can't imagine Rom is gonna be happy with that and he's gonna have to make a decision about what is best for his career, being a pawn at Chelsea or moving on and furthering his ambitions somewhere else.

That is the vibe I get about the whole of Chelsea tbh - the most important thing is money.

How you win, the people you win it with and their feelings just don't matter. Even players with a long history with the club are regarded in a "what have you done for me lately" way like Lampard and the uncertainty if he will be offered a new contract. Compare that with Martinez talking about Hibbo.

Probably makes sense from a short term business sense and they certainly have a decent trophy cabinet but couldn't support a club so soulless and shallow.

Exactly. Maybe I'm romanticizing Everton but there is a feeling of everyone in it together and a real sense of family.

Unfortunately football/footballers don't care so much about that as they did. As far as Lukaku is concerned I think that may be something that he thinks about, fingers crossed.
 
It appears that the FFP ruling is having a bigger impact than some of believed it would.
The super rich owners cannot simply buy players like a child buying toys anymore...it would appear.
Players have to be sold,books have to be balances and wages bills brought in line with accepted norms.

I don't think Chelsea can afford to let an expensive and lucrative asset like Lukaku out on loan again.He will be
a first team player for Chelsea or he will be sold to fund transfers.
Probably the same is true of City, I am not sure about Utd.

Most clubs have probably been living within the FFP rulings anyway under a different heading "living within your means".
The extra money from television this summer may give some extra spending power ,but it will be curtailed.
If the fine on City and PSG is followed through with ,we will see a big levelling off on spending in the future.
 

The goals will come, 20-25 in all comps methinks, because the goals have come no matter where he has played. IMO he was our best player last year, and he'll be our best player this year. Just hope he stays healthy.
 
Rom's expectations should be simple.

If his expectations are the same as mine, we'll win the league, but I expect that every year. You have to expect the best result, someone I know bets on the newly crowned 'red bitters' to get relegated every season, so the law of averages says both will come in at some point.
 
He is 20/1 top scorer with paddy power for next season, but they will give you a £2 free bet every time he scores!!!
