Ronald Koeman discussion

I'm not expecting anything this season
Just learn out to defend again
Attack at a team
Team unity
No players kicking of on the fans

Next season will be Koeman team.

No quick fix, can't just buy 8 players and say there you go you are replacing that lot.
Would need time to gel, disrupt the dressing room especially if you haven't moved all the others on and are some of them as bad as we think they are I believe maybe one or two surprises.

More importantly manager needs to shape and mould his team.
Martinez first season was a wonderful fluke and once he had the team playing his way well we all know what that was like.

At times it's like a group of toddlers in here wanting everything NOW and being so dramatic.

Take it easy see how results and the squad shape up, might be January or even next season before the owners and managers plans take shape.

That's the wrong conclusion to draw, imo. Martinez showed the group he inherited that they could play football and get results. The problem was that it wasn't built on and he wasn't a strong enough chararcter to get a grip of errant performers and get players in with the right attitude. He basically kept faith with the core of another manager's team and it eventually buried him.

There's no excuse for Koeman not to crack on and get a very reasonable top 6 finish. But he needs to learn from Martinez's mistake of leaving that defensive unit especially in place. It needs gutting, and it needs gutting very quickly. If it were me I'd only have retained Coleman out of the entire usual back four plus GK. All he's done so far is get another reserve GK in. Not good enough. It'll lead to his early downfall unless he rips that defensive unit apart and starts again.

Let's just hope that we can push ourselves back up to where we were in Martinez first season and build from there.
As you said in your first sentence it all is a matter of opinions.
Think the defence will look completely different and we may see a back three.
I'd give Mori and Baines a chance and maybe one of the kids and looks like Williams type may come in.
Interesting times ahead.

Spot on post.

Dave.

Gradual change is proven in management to be more effective than revolution.

We only need to replace one or two in that defensive unit plus others further up the pitch.

Let's not go to the extremes OK?

3 or 4 incoming would be nice.

I do understand it. Your making out like the squad is rubbish when it's not and its just underperformed with a underperforming manager. This will change that's why we've brought in koeman. The deadwood is being shifted out he's starting to do things his way but it takes time.
No it's pretty rubbish tbh

Sorry, yeah, I should have said retain Funes Mori and Coleman. Williams coming in (if he does) will add some backbone too. I'd get shut of Jagielka and Baines if Moyes came in for them. We need another in CD for when Stones goes. Galloway and Oviedo I'm not sure if they're the answer at LB so Id look to be bringing in a top LB and also some cover for Coleman, as Davies (who Koeman seems to rate there) is way too inexperienced to deputise. And the GK situation looks like a compromise to me, so that needs sorting too.

All stuff ^^^ that should have happened by now....and that's just the defensive side of things.

This preseason has seen us drift, not take control of our destiny. The summer window is a shambles.

3/4? Not when you're going to release players from the existing squad...and we will.

Almost certainly Lukaku and Stones will need replacing. The GK situation has NOT been resolved. So right there is three new faces even before you start strengthening.

Sorry mate, you're setting this new regime a very low bar to get over. Remember that this was supposed to be our reboot? Doesn't look like it right now, not by a long chalk.
