Has any club ever seen a long term "project" come to fruition?

For most fans football is about the here and now.....they ain't overly concerned about the long run because you know what?

In the long run we'll all be dead :oops:
 
Martinez hit the ground running, then fell over his own feet and looked a proper gorp at the end. Koeman has hit the ground walking. We want him to break into a sprint, or at least up the pace a bit, but he will not. It is not his way. He is a cautious plodder, carefully choosing his path and watching where he puts his feet. The frustration of the instant gratification crowd is palpable. The hope is, that while he may be steadily jogging, that he actually knows where he is going with Everton and the best way to get us there.

He wasn't really, Dunc.

There was nowt to complain about during that first season.

Imagine that first season had been similiar to the second season though....he might have been fired at the end of it.

Manager's only need "time" when things are going awry.

I have to laugh - the two biggest things we want is squad investment and a new stadium.

Last summer the club MADE cash on sales of players and the only change in the stadium situation is a visit of the great and good to the BM dock and a few tweets.

It's absurd.

I don't think everyone expects him to have it all figured by now. They just expect better than 2 wins in 12 and the absolutely dire football we're playing and I think that's fair.

Guess who asks the question. The Glazers will be pretty happy with their long term project, United fans these last few years, less so.

Ditto Arsenal.

Spurs have been planning what seems like a sound Stadium for a while, I expect Levy/Lewis, will be delighted with the financial return that produces, but, again, if the team are mid table, the fans wont be.

Ditto West Ham.

Lower down the food chain, Swansea, (till recently), Bournemouth, Forest Green, AFC Wimbledon, probably tons of others.

So yes. Long term planning by a club can pay huge dividends, (sic), and that is a journey we have recently embarked on, imo. Wont be easy, but (cliche alert), every journey starts with one step.

Considering the way we are playing at the moment and Lukaku's style don't you think he would be not too upset selling him for an inflated fee? If a new contract adds an extra 10+ mill then selling him to add the type of striker(s) he wants could be on his agenda.
 
Koeman isn't a special manager. And we won't be signing special players under him.

We simply don't have the ambition that many of our matchgoing fans are demanding now.

Ask yourself this: are you happy plodding along, playing Koeman's dire brand of football and signing Man U's cast offs?

Or do we deserve more now? We have tonnes of cash due to 1. Every prem team is cash rich now 2. We are a bigger club than 60% of the league and 3. We have a wealthy owner.

The why on gods earth do some of our fan base still accept mediocrity?!
