Ronald Koeman discussion

Yup they where poor but also had a huge amount of players and thus options for him to try to see which players fitted etc, the one who didn't by and large got shipped out this summer, koeman inherrited a weaker team and weaker squad of players - and has basically been trying and testing them all out, fully expect a clear out of a large size soon.
Let's hope the 'culling' of our squad reaps the same dividends as the RS.

7th is the best realistic place we can get. We're chasing the team that came second and will probably be 10 points clear of us by our next game and a Utd side with Zlatan.
If he gets us 7th with the mess he was left that's a 4 place improvement in his first season and more than I'd settle for. Top half while he cleans the squad out and gets our professional footballers acting and training like professionals again would be satisfactory.

spurs came third mate

I get the impression that he won't be letting the board off the hook when it comes to transfers - something that seemed to be bullet point number one on the manager's job description for his two predecessors.

I would expect to see him consolidate the current position if the January window goes well. I think that'd be a satisfactory first season's work.

The season so far has been weird. brilliant start, followed by a shockingly poor couple of months in terms of both results and performances....and still we are seventh.

January will be hugely interesting. I think we may see interesting signings rather than spectacular signings as sometimes the players you most want are simply not available in January.

Was laughed at for saying this.

He can get 7th with the squad he inherited because if your half way organised in this league you do well. Hes also got a 20 goal a season striker.

However, I'm not sold on him having enough to push us on further when he spends money and moulds his own team.

Time will tell.

Everyones available if your prepared to pay the asking price.

Quite amusing that were 7th..

Chelsea The Red Shyte Man City Arsenal Spurs and Man United are the teams ahead of us.It's not that much of a crime to be behind teams in a more advanced stage of development to ourselves. Not to mention those teams also having superior finances. It makes a laughing stock of the claims coming from some people that we were facing a relegation battle under Koeman.Granted Southampton have a game in hand but we can claim to be the best of the rest with the elite teams still a bit ahead of us.So despite what the church of Davek and Zatara is preaching Koeman is doing a pretty decent job so far imo.

Regarding this, prior to the latest round of matches, we were actually closer to the relegation zone (+9 pts above Sunderland in 18th) than the top 5 (-10 pts below Tottenham in 5th). We had 23 pts.
Its too hard to call this season right now and say how well he's doing. It could all change from 2 or even 1 poor result. That's why I've repeatedly said to give him the full season before drawing any conclusions.
