Ronald Koeman discussion

True the football has been dire at times but then again we were playing great stuff at times under Martinez but failed to get the results. So im happy enough to see us show more grit and grind out results. Our attacking play does needs a lot of work and hopefully that will improve in time but i do think were going in the right direction under Koeman.I think with the last manager it was a case of build from the front while Koeman is a manager who wants to get the defending right and get the team playing in a more aggressive and in your face manner. When he is satisfied that he has that sorted then we can worry about playing fancy attractive attacking football imo.
Fair points. But is it really necessary to have "either or" though. I just don't see why it seems difficult to combine a more solid defence/more grit to win the ball back with a decent attempt to get the ball down and play to feet a bit more and into the channels for Lukaku to run on to. But anyway credit it to him for a bit of flexibility going for 3/4/3 at Leicester. I am no fan of 3 at the back but it pushed Baines and Coleman a bit higher up the pitch when we got the ball (apart from Ramiro's reluctance to pass to Baines but that is a different story!!) so well done for trying something a bit different.

Listen - understand that but do some research and look at what HK's team turned into... he was reviled as well by so called supporters and look what happened ...worst in the league ?? How long have you had a season ticket ? ha ha ha

Our football has been as bad as anything served up by any team in the prem this season, AT TIMES

I honestly don't get the Kendall shouts, I've seen them a few times on here, There irrelevant to whats happening now, I might add I've not even mentioned getting rid of Koeman

Its called transition. Back to basics because the current crop cannot do what Koeman requires from them. Making us hard to beat is better than rolling over. Ugly football to stop a rot until he gets players he wants and knows can play his way.

The Kendall shouts are about his struggles which nearly resulted in him being sacked and fans booing the team and him.....the very same team that became the best in the land after the transition.

mate to be honest your both right , id take winning ugly for a bit you know , the players need to be mentally stronger again in what they're showing now , last season we played crap and got stuffed ,

I get the feeling that he will do well and that Everton will have a much better 2nd half of the season.

Only time will tell if I'm right or wrong.

That has been the case at Southampton. I'd take a good transfer window in January and a 7th place finish (hopefully good enough for a EL spot). But equally I'd like to see signs that the team is making progress, not just in results but also the style of play. Hopefully with decent acquisitions in January that will be the case.

I was hoping he was going to be the middle ground between Martinez and Moyes i.e. HK and winning stuff.
Results are up and down, the football is pretty dire but, until he gets his (or Walsh's) players in, then I guess we have to wait and see.
I'll be honest, I don't like defensive hoofball but, hopefully there's a plan for the team to progress (which obviously moves him closer to his Barca job).

Chelsea The Red Shyte Man City Arsenal Spurs and Man United are the teams ahead of us.It's not that much of a crime to be behind teams in a more advanced stage of development to ourselves. Not to mention those teams also having superior finances. It makes a laughing stock of the claims coming from some people that we were facing a relegation battle under Koeman.Granted Southampton have a game in hand but we can claim to be the best of the rest with the elite teams still a bit ahead of us.So despite what the church of Davek and Zatara is preaching Koeman is doing a pretty decent job so far imo.

like long ball tactics do you?

Now stop it !
That's too much common sense and logical argument for one post
Just stop it !

Spot on fella!

One thing i think everyone can agree on;

Gana + DCL were our good signings in the summer, especially for around £9.5mil combined...we will need a handful more to inprove for the 2nd half of the season.

I hate constantly saying this but, TO BE FAIR, "the current squad can't do what Koeman wants them to" is a bit ridiculous. From what we have seen he wants the ball moved FAST from defense to offense, mostly bypassing the midfield. He (supposedly) wants them to press the opposition. He wants a high tempo.

ALL of this almost every player did in Martinez's first season. They did it then, they CAN do it now. Literally no idea why it's so damn awful but it's not that every single footballer we have had for 3+ years has no idea what to do anymore.

I'm still just shocked that we have 6 points out of 9. And SHOULD be 7 of 9. Dunno what happened to change but whatever it is, long may it continue.

No pressing, low work rate and been lazy. They were allowed to do that under Martinez and getting used to a system so I fully expect it takes a couple of months to amend. Hopefully the team has now back the way that Koeman wants them to play.
