Who gives a flying flip about Moyes or Martinez, they are gone get over it and judge the current boss on his performance fgs.

No matter what nonsense you try and defend him with "the players aren't good enough"(again say that back to yourself and realise how ridiculous it is to say a footballer can't pass a ball.), he should have them playing better than they are after 6 months training, to say anything else you are fooling yourself.

But ok, let's hope he is backed in the window, let's hope he get's the players he wants and we will then see his style. I still don't believe that professional footballers can't play a better brand of football than this. The whole lot of them just look devoid of confidence and some should be moved on.
Not only lacking in confidence but the inability to implement a high tempo pressing game that the manager wants.

Well don't you think he has to take some form of responsibility for not being able to get his methods across? I'm sorry but managers can't expect to just buy a whole new team every time they take over a club. They have to work with what they have got and try to get the best out of them.

We have seen the best these lot are capable of and we have seen the worst, we are currently seeing below average and in that case not really good enough.

Splurging money isn't a magic wand you still have to get a tune out of the players at your disposal. Windows open, he says he wants 4/5 in, I hope he is backed like promised.

Agree. a blank acceptance that lacking money means no we shouldn't expect or talk of taking on the better funded clubs is wrong.
Moyes showed it could be done, Leicester showed it can be done.

Aiming for 7th is not acceptable, finishing 7th if your squad runs out gas is different... right now my nagging doubt with RK is complacency: unless we buy we should not expect improvement.

I think the team can show greater concentration and application in areas which has seen us take 3 points from games versus Southampton, Burnley, Hull, Swansea, Bournemouth and west ham. With even half the points on offer we'd be above utd.

Agree to a point, but the majority of our current squad have been in decline for the last 2 years. Yes koeman should be getting more out of them, but there is a limit to what he can do with a squad in decline. Up until the last match he had the same number of points as klopp after his first 18 games, with a far inferior squad and look where klopp has taken them with some shrewd acquisitions. I'm not expecting us to be challenging for the league, but I'm sure I'd koeman is able to get the players he wants, evidence shows from Southampton his teams can play an attractive and winning style of football.

I hope so, really don't want to watch this style for a prolonged period. I just think too many are banking on the transfer window as some kind of magic lamp and it doesn't work like that, Spurs, Liverpool, Utd have all tried the splurging and they are still in and around the places they were beforehand.

Agreed. I wonder what a very large squad of players (new and existing since last summer transfer window) has seen and heard from the current management team which has culminated in an extended poor run of performances. Has the manager been sussed by the players and what does that say about the chances for the new players and our performances for the 2nd half of the season.

Massive Cup game coming up and a lot of attention on the club with respect to transfer execution.

It's going to be an interesting month.

How good is Koeman? And can he take us to where we want to be?. I must admit I'm a little concerned about his ability as a manager, when we got him I was over the moon he did well at Southampton and he was a great player in Spain and as he's well known I thought he could attract very good players to Everton. I know it's still early days but I've seen little improvement on the pitch since Martinez went and his signings haven't exactly been what I thought they would be, Gueye has proved to be good buy I knew very little about him before, as for Bolasie I always thought he was a good player but no more than that, but I did expect a lot better player coming. At the moment I can't really see how we are going forward, our league position looks ok but the best teams are all getting away from us and we are just really best of a rest, which in all honestly are pretty poor. I'm not sure he really had the passion we require from a manager and his body language just doesn't seem right, I really hope I'm wrong but this whole Everton project thing isn't really getting me very excited about the future of EFC.

All good points, expressed in a fluid manner, if only other anti-Koeman posters acted in this manner.

To address your points, the mans a winner, he won trophies galore as a player and has been fairly successful in his managerial career, is he a top, top coach? Possibly not, is he the right man to take us forward? Yeah I think so, hes taken over a club in transition, we need to get back to the best of the rest place we held before Martinez took us over the cliff, so hes got, currently 3 years to take us back to the peak of "tier2" and then hope we can break through that ceiling above.

Prior to his appointment I called him the Dutch Moyes, can you recall how we all thought if only Moyes had a little bit more money he could break the glass ceiling? Well now we get a chance to see a better manager have a a pop at it.

The clubs above us are all much further along in their projects, in the case of Manchester United, Arsenal and even Liverpool they are all 20+ years ahead, these 3 clubs have invested in the right areas, all have excellent stadia and very impressive balance sheets, City and Chelsea also have some mighty fine digits and Spurs have done well in the transfer market and built a very impressive side.

Now thats all just excuses you may say, what about Leicester you say, fine champions who made the whole league pipe down, but sadly for them, it would seem a 1 off "freak" season. But granted, it sounds like excuses, I prefer reasons, theres a gap in the league, this season is about solidifying our position as best of the rest, next season should be about trying to at least get amongst the top 6 and the season after that hopefully getting amongst the top 4.

None of that will be easy, it will require sound investment and a massive improvement both off and on the pitch, so to go back to your point, is Koeman the right man to take us to where we want to be? Im not sure, ask me again in 3 years.

I've been saying this for a long time. The mark of a good manager is to get the best out of the players he has available to him. The case COULD be made that Koeman is doing this as we are 7th but the football we are seeing is eye-AIDS. There are very few teams where a manager can literally buy 18 of his own players, but that seems to be what a lot advocate for Koeman.

I just want to see winning football. The fact we won 1 in 10 and are STILL 7th is astounding.

Im firmly of the belief that 2/3 players in key areas would improve the team massively.

As ive been boring everybody since the summer.

A number 8 with magic in their boots
A number 10 who unlocks locked doors
And a number 9 to help out the big fella up top at times

Just these 3 players would make a massive difference, add a Supefootgol on the wing, a CB that snaps ankles for fun whilst winning headers and decent GK and we should piss the World cup in Russia.
