Ronald Koeman discussion

Don't want to sound a pessimist the very moment we get our man. But words these days means **** all I gotta say. He was more than happy to stay at Southampton before Moshiri made an offer he couldn't refuse. I just get a feeling we attracted him with bumper salaries more than anything.

Nonetheless, enough with the negative energy. Welcome Ronald Mcdonald! I see this as a 3 year project. I like the fact you didn't make any big promises on your first day. Don't see him staying for too long but long enough to take us to somewhere or thereabouts this club should always be before Moshiri makes Mourinho an offer he wouldn't refuse.
That's modern football I'm afraid mate, he didn't grow up on Breck Road waiting for his chance. Aguero doesn't play for City for the Blue shirt.

Apparently, Dutch for bone crusher is 'bone crusher'.

Feyenord 1 Everton 0, European Cup-Winners Cup, 2nd Round, 2nd Leg: Thursday, 2 November 1995 1995:

"...The sorry fact that not one of England's representatives managed a goal this week was not reflected in Everton's spirited performance, but their disappointment was compounded by the final-minute dismissal of defender Craig Short, for elbowing Ronald Koeman

...Both Joe Royle, the Everton manager, and Short criticised Koeman for the incident which led to the dismissal. Short said: "It was retaliation to a dreadful tackle. I could have got my leg broken. I did swing my arm, I don't know if I made contact, but I was angry at the challenge."

Koeman responded by saying: "It was a tackle you see in every match in England, but I can understand his reaction." Royle added: "We needed a break and the nearest we got was when Craig Short nearly had his leg broken. It was a disgraceful tackle."

Hope he will be on speaking terms with Joe Royle. Perhaps fortunate for RK that Duncan Ferguson was serving his time.

;)

Pleased this one has been done and that he is place before the fixtures come out! Looking forward now to seeing what we do in the transfer market. I'm sure he will also want to address the Stones and Lukaku positions asap. He seems the type to me that will want full commitment or won't be afraid to simply move players on who are committed. His reputation is for one of running a tight ship which is exactly what we need after the squad discipline being so poor over recent months.
Stop dreaming Lukaku = gone

Would have liked the statement to come from Mr Moshiri, not that absolute cockwomble Kenwright who has done absolutely nothing for the club for over 15 years. Do one Bill.

Aside from this, how do we pay them 5m compensation if Koeman resigned from Southampton? Surely we paid to transfer his contract to us? If he resigned and they accepted it (as per their statement) that surely means he was no longer contracted to them. Seems a bit strange to me.

Massive lack of class in the official Southampton statement: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/arti...accept-ronald-koeman-resignation-3142108.aspx

Southampton Football Club can today confirm it has accepted the resignation of First Team Manager Ronald Koeman, and completed negotiations with Everton over his move to Goodison Park.

The search has already begun for the right appointment who can take the club to the next level and build on our track record of recent success, which culminated in a sixth-place finish in last season’s Premier League, as well as qualification for the group stages of the Europa League.

Our focus now is to build on our long-term plan, and work with a new management team who share both the club’s and our supporters’ values and ambitions.

No "we'd like to thank Ronald for..." etc. etc.

Comes across as incredibly bitter.
Come on. Do you blame them. We would be the same. In fact we do not accept 'bigger clubs' wanting our players at all. They are to be expected to be upset. Don't turn into an idiot like Mark Hughes gloating because we are now in a better cash position. Gloat on the way up and you become sad individuals like kopites and Mancs. Unable to come to terms with who you are now, one of a bunch, which is all we can say. We can now compete and the rest remains to be seen.

He'll have had to pay to break his contract so I suspect the compensation is us footing the bill.
