Ronald Koeman discussion

I think any manager should want to play football on the deck as a given. I know it's not always that easy but I do expect it, shame on me for wanting good togger.

I'm going to just see if all our comrades on here are correct and he is only playing this style because he has no belief in the players(arguably still should be able to coach them but ok). I really hope they are correct, even the most ardent supporters will get fed up of another few years of hoofing it.

I don't know, maybe we were just spoilt in Roberto's first season, been a long time that we have been that excited, pity it was an anomaly.
The reason there's a lot of spite toward Roberto is that last point you make: a taste of honey is worse than none at all, so the song goes. True of that first season we had under him too. People resented badly they were shown what we could play like again and then it was taken away from us as quickly as it arrived. History will judge RM a lot more kindly than those in the present.

On Koeman though: I dont believe it'll get any worse under him. I think the football is horrible now but will start becoming more bearable, although he'll always be a direct play manager (despite all his talk about playing football THAT is what he is).

What you possibly mean to say is that Moyes was here almost four times as long as Martinez and had the time to get decent positions in the league (as well as nearly relegating us with our worst points total for 50 years in one season). But Moyes is not the coach Martinez is. Martinez is a great attacking coach whereas Moyes is a bang average coach in all aspects of the game. Do you think one of the best international outfits in the world would ever employ Moyes? They did Martinez, and therein essentially lies the difference: Martinez is a thinker and a strategist; Moyes was just a dinosaur Sgt Major...an analogue manager in a digital world, as they say.

Do you think the biggest club in uk and pretty much the world would employ el fraudo? You think ferguson would recommend that joker?

Also you fail to acknowledge that Moyes took over for Walter smith... and we had a shocking and old team...

El fraudo took over a team that was consistently in Europe for a few season and was always in the top 7.

Moyes improved the team no end from the one he took over ...

The longer el fraudo was here and the more money he spent?

The more unfit the players became, the more fans started to complain, the more the players looked lost, the more goals conceded column increases, the more shocking signings he made, the more leads we lost he was taking us to the championship .

72 points is nothing..

So your saying that if koeman gets 73 points but finishes 7th he's better than el fraudo ?

Consistent league placings with money available is the best way to judge a manager.

The more money el fraudo spent ... the worse the team become lol

Koeman hasn't had time to spend yet and get his players in... but he has made us harder to beat even tho the football is not good to watch... after he has his own players in.. we can judge the playing style and of corse our league position..

And just so you know 72 points is nothing... nobody remembers how many points we got in 1995... they remember the cup win... nobody remebers how many points we got when we finished 4th... they remember we qualified... and I will bet you right now that our league position will be higher this season than the previous two... meaning... koeman has improved us..

Your obviously on the wind up constantly, the biggest attention seeker around or you genuinely just go looking for arguments ..
Mate:

#1 you dont win trophies and get a PL team to win 21 games out of 38 by being 'el fraudo'. That's just daft.

#2 72 points will get us a CL place in almost every season. So, yes, 72 points IS something.

I think whatever point you want to make is made bankrupt by the ridiculous usage of the term 'fraud' in relation to a manager with more success than most current PL managers have had in this country.

Our goals and head of steam on Monday came when we got it down and into Roms feet. We do hoof it too much, but I definitely don't see it as a specific RK gameplan. He wants us to play, because when we get it down we can trouble teams. The style will improve with time but in the meantime, results are what matters.

Why didn't it that season? In fact didn't we finish about 5-6 points behind 4th?

So why did we not qualify with 72 points?

The league was crap that year...

So you think jelavic is boss then do you? Can't be a fraud ... he scored 16 in his first 20 games ...

You think ranieri is the best manager in the world because of last season?

Flukes happen... but they don't carry on forever ... you mentioned Moyes had time to get those finishes.... and had one very bad season where he got our lowest points tally in 50 years? Bobby has been managing in the prem for how long? 8? He has had one league placing in the top half of the table ( and that was with Moyes's drfence) every team he has managed concedes more goals that the previous season.. he's crap, deluded and stubborn...

Actually I'm starting to see why you can relate to him so much

More success than most pl managers? You mean an FA cup win...

He's been relagated from the league you lunatic ...
anyone can win a cup ...the league is the fairest way to gauge a team..and his league placings and defensive records have been woeful...

Once again you completely over hype that first fluke of a season under Martinez. It was down to a combination of luck on El Fraudo's part and the old guard shocking people with new tactics. What did we actually achieve that season? Sweet FA! We crashed out of both the league and FA Cup and we finished fifth so all this nonsense about tasting honey is ridiculous. People didn't resent Martinez because we had some magical brand of football taken away from us, they resented that insufferable clown because he undid over a decades worth of work from Moyes of making us hard to beat and turning us into the current mess we are. History will not look kindly on Martinez, once Koeman builds his own team that can play to the standard's Koeman wants it will be even more clear just how much of a disaster that incompetent charlatan Martinez was.

You don't want to answer this? In your opinion did Royle achieve more than RM's first season because Joe won the FA Cup thus a better manager?
Of course. Why would I avoid stating that?!

But RM won the cup with an ale house resourced club and got EFC's biggest points haul since the glory days of the 80s. That outstrips Big Joe (I loved JR but it's the truth .)
