Ronald Koeman discussion

As I said earlier: if Moshiri is in this all the way it would be foolish not to agree with that statement. But going off actual delivery so far rather than words I can easily see where the doubts are creeping in as to just how far his commitment goes.

We're hurtling toward a minimum net spend summer. Rewind a couple of months back and if you'd told that to supporters then they would have been floored by that prospect.

Like I said earlier, (yesterday?), lets judge when the dust settles, not get all frantic cos we havnt done that much, transfer wise, so far, this window.

TBH, I think the more serious he is the longer it's going to take because doing things right usually takes time...especially with the position the club finds itself in. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Welcome back mate. Under Kenwrignt when did we ever take a top player, never mind manager from a top 6 team in England?

Let's look at this simply. The two managers Kenwright appointed both worked with the Lancashire border. They were recommended by Dave Wheelan and Walter Smith.

Ronald Koeman in profile and prestige in lightyears ahead of all kenwrights managers.
Tbh, I dont care if a manager is headhunted from The Dog and Duck or Barcelona as long as they do the business. I dont think the manager's fee tells us anything. In fact, you could make the case that Walsh's appointment points in the direction of us doing this on the cheap from now on.

My point overall is that we have to drop the "Pollyanna/all is rosy in the garden" mantra and start looking closely at the claims being made for this new regime.

You're such a bore

I wouldn't say I was frantic about it, tbh. I'm saying that the tone of the debate over Moshiri and what he brings is beginning (correctly) to rebalance again. We cant ignore the failure to produce so far, and we cant ignore that the season is upon us.

It's only reasonable that supporters are now shifting uneasily and beginning to reassess.

That's not to say we should conclude he wont get the job done, by the way.

Ronald Koeman has told Everton to stop being “too nice” and start getting in the opposition’s face.

The Blues finished off their pre-season schedule with a limp 1-0 defeat at home to Espanyol on Saturday.

New signing Idrissa Gueye gave away a penalty but still produced an impressive display on his debut and Koeman says the 26-year-old adds a new dimension to Everton’s midfield.

And the Blues boss wants the rest of the players to take a leaf out of Gueye’s book and press with more intent.

“He is a different player and he can bring that to the team and that’s the reason why we signed Idrissa for Everton because he is a different midfield player than most of them,” Koeman said.

“But also the rest of players need to be more aggressive. It is sometimes too nice.

“Football is not what you do on the ball. Football is most of the time, how compact you play, how you run, how you react and sometimes it is too sloppy.

“He can bring that but we have to show the players what we want and that is still difficult because if you play three seasons on your guitar and then one day you need to play piano it is difficult because maybe it is not your quality but it is also a mental question.”

Ronald Koeman says Everton will adopt pressing game this season
Koeman enjoyed success when he employed a 3-5-2 formation against Manchester United last week but says the Blues still have some way to go to be as organised as he would like.

“Football is not anymore the game when you have the ball, it is also the game when you don’t have the ball and we need to improve much more than we did so far,” he added.

Yes Ronald, YES.

Well in honesty neither do I. That's a different argument though. I was pointing out the different approach to recruiting a manager.

Neither guarantee success but I can see a big change and more importantly I know which one Everton should adopt going forward.

Yes Ronald, YES.

He just gets IT.

Yes Ronald, YES.

Pressing style is fantastic if you have the personnel for it. Not sure we have that.

Clearly Koeman knows exactly what he wants - fortunately those that make the decisions are not on this forum with certain posters allowing 6 week only to transform us to champions league. Give this man some time and arguably 2/3 transfer windows before he can make us realistically start to compete in the top 6.
