Ronald Koeman discussion

"Ronald Koeman hits out at Everton board over lack of January transfers with big building job required"

If he was promised funds that clearly haven't been delivered he has every right to publicly voice his frustration with the board but in doing so he's once again failing to take any responsibility for his part in what has been a poor season so far.

Agreed mate he is to blame as well because he's not getting anything out of what is at his disposal, but he's absolutely spot on regarding transfers. 7th January and we've brought a young talented kid in. We've known for the best part of 3 months what is needed, he's already said he's given the board the list of players he wants and still we haven't got any reinforcements in.

It's the same old crap just a a different day.

Not defending the board...but if this is about Schneiderlin then I agree with what theyre doing

Problem we've got now is all and sundry know we've got money (supposedly) on the hip, so clubs we deal with will try and inflate prices, we can try and play hardball, but it may actually come to a point where we have no choice but cough up if we want to bring in top quality.

People going mental because the board haven't immediately agreed to pay £25m for a player who doesn't address any of the most glaring issues in the squad, and who can't even get close to getting a game for a team one place above us in the table. The worlds gone mad.

We've threw £10million at a league two player.
United want to recoup the full £24million they paid for a player who's flopped.
Paid Palace £24million for Bolasie.

Everyone else either didnt want to come or wanted waaay too much money.

We can easily get our pants pulled down in this window which is something we got to be careful of.

I think we have improved as a unit under Koeman yes. We were an absolute omnishambles last srping.

But in terms of future progression, as I've said, 7th is the absolute limit with these no marks and I've no loyalty towards most of this squad because they are simply holding the club back.

We have the bad combination of old and overrated players. We genuinely do need a complete of the squad and the fringe positions. Like about 12 in 15 out over next 2 windows is actually needed.
What are you seeing that makes you say that - not trying to be awkward, just genuinely haven't seen much progress in recent weeks.

As I say I think we are stronger defensively but a lot of that happened in the first few weeks and progress has been intermittent since. The fitness of the squad seems to have improved as well, indeed our best spells are often at the end of matches.

But I'd hoped that that would have then been built on with some sign in our attacking looking more dangerous and fluid but tbh can't see much of a plan in most games other than in the dying minutes. I know you say wait for 12 players but even with that high level of investment you'd still have some of the existing players here/injuries like Bolasie's so I would hope to see evidence that Koeman can achieve things through coaching rather than just recruitment.

"Everton manager Ronald Koeman fiercely criticised his players and demanded action from the club's hierarchy in the transfer market after the FA Cup exit at home to Leicester City.

Koeman was furious after the 2-1 loss ended the Toffees' hopes of challenging for a trophy in his first season.

"I know what is needed to change," the 53-year-old Dutchman said.

"If everybody opened his eyes maybe we will get further in our improvement - because that is what this team needs."

Everton paraded new £11m forward Ademola Lookman, 19, before kick-off, but negotiations continue to drag on to secure Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

Koeman also refused to put the cup exit down to ill fortune after seeing Romelu Lukaku's opener quickly cancelled out by two goals from Leicester substitute Ahmed Musa.

"It is not bad luck," he said. "We did it ourselves and it was just unbelievable how we dropped back.

"It was a lack of concentration at 1-0. I just can't see how they score the goal to make it 1-1. No pressing on the ball, a pass inside Seamus Coleman and Musa is faster - three defenders for us and it is 1-1.

"If you play like we did at 1-0 you ask for goals against. That is not the way you need to play at 1-0."

And with a Premier League match against Manchester City next up, Koeman warned his players they risk being on the end of a result similar to the 5-0 FA Cup drubbing Pep Guardiola's side dished out to West Ham on Friday.

"If we play like the last 30 minutes it can be the same result as against West Ham," he said."

Ronny is actually fuming.

Calling out the board and all the players, what a man.

Can't say I blame him - 1-0 up and the blow it. Bunch of useless bottlers.

It's pretty clear that Mori is not up to the task.
Barry is finished (he comes back into the side and we fall apart).
Barkley is blowing hot and cold.
Davies is part of the future of our MF.
We need a LEADER in this team - time to Jags to hand over the armband. Perhaps to an existing player (Coleman? Williams?)
We need a striker play with Rom. Valencia is not the answer, Kone is finished, DCL needs another season or two to show what he has got.
We need that player in the CM to create the spark - Morgs may just be that player - get him in asap.

Board and Walsh......over to you. Time to put your money where your mouth is ;)

Im very disappointed. This club badly needs a trophy but our barren run will now go into a 22nd year. This hasn't been a terrible season so far.The cups were a disaster but in the league we have shown improvement this season. If we finish 7th it will be a decent but boring season. All we have to play for is the 7th place trophy. It would make a reasonable first season but i won't lie a part of me was hoping we'd achieve a bit more than that this season.I think we have a fair bit of work to do before we compete with the elite teams. This playing squad needs investment and it needs it now.The manager has to up his game as well instead of blaming all around him but himself for today.A lot of those players have no future at this club and while im willing to give Koeman a fair chance to turn this clubs fortunes around.Today has to go down as a significant black mark against him.

Hold on, what the hell. Please read it back and start again.

Koeman wants him and the board aren't delivering, it's not good enough. They have paid £28 Million for a fella who spent his time rapping while we were playing. Have a word chief

I'm over it. As gutted as I was a couple of hours ago, I've put my big boy pants on and realised again what I did before the game, we've got a very very poor squad of players.
We were never going to win de cup, Leicester have purged me of any lingering hope I had. If the top players are available, and the board backs Koeman, and if they even want to come here in the first place, this is a massive month ahead.
As much as I'm not convinced by Koeman, it's also impossible to judge him just yet, so let's see what he can do,
Yeah the season is over, and everyone is disappointed,, especially after the news in the week, but this team has been broken for quite some time..Time for Ronnie, and the board to show us what they're going to do about it.

Going for a cry now.

Think of it this way, it's the same if someone came in for Niasse and we didn't sell because they wouldn't pay the price we paid originally.
