Ronald Koeman discussion

Been better than Jags mate, and lately there hasn't been much to choose between him and Williams.

Totally agree - says a lot about Jag's decline this season. We need someone with pace to play alongside Williams in the middle. Mori makes too many mistakes (not as many as Jags of late but even so). Reckon we need a CB in and Holgate is supposedly earmarked to play CB in the future - he just needs more time and experience.

I'm wondering if it's a good idea for him to call out the board..publicly at least.

Furious Ronald Koeman has hit out at the Everton board over January transfers.

The Toffees boss has challenged the board to recognise the extent of change that is needed to the team after their FA Cup exit to Leicester City.

Koeman was visibly frustrated after the Foxes came from a goal down to win 2-1 at Goodison Park and condemn Everton to another season without silverware, report the Liverpool Echo.

Koeman, who is waiting on progress with bids for Manchester United duo Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay, issued a thinly veiled warning to anyone in the club's hierarchy who thinks there is no rush to strengthen the squad this month.

He said: "I know what we need to change and if everyone opens their eyes today maybe we will get further on our improvement as a team. Because that's really what we need and that's all about what happens this month."

Asked about signing new players he replied: "I have that in mind and the board knows because we spoke together about what we need. That's the job of Steve Walsh and it's my job.

"I hope everybody realises what the team needs to play and to get results that meet the expectations at this club.

"I can explain more but I don't like to because that's talks we need to do inside. But if a young player of 18 is today one of the best on the pitch then it says enough."

Pressed on whether haggling with United for Schneiderlin and Depay had progressed in the last 24 hours, he said: "I don't know. I didn't hear anything about it. I don't know."

Koeman also hit out at the attitude of his players who let their hard-won lead slip casually through their fingers via Ahmed Musa's second half brace.

"In my opinion it wasn't bad luck," he said. "We did it by ourselves. We were 1-0 up and it was unbelievable how we dropped back.

"If we see how they equalised there was no pressing on the ball, a pass inside of Seamus and Musa was faster than three defenders.

"We'd done the most difficult to score a goal because Leicester were very defensive, but OK we scored. I don't understand why we lost. If you play like we did at 1-0 up you ask for it.

"Everybody is disappointed but we're still in a good position in the table."

Everton face Manchester City next Sunday (January 15) and the Dutchman warned his players they could face a similar humiliation as West Ham, beaten 5-0 by Pep Guardiola's side in their FA Cup clash on Friday night.

He said: "If we play like the last 30 minutes we can have the same result as West Ham.

"You need to do better. That's about eight days time. We lost today and I'm not thinking about next week yet."

Thats music to my ears to be honest.

He was let down in the summer with certain players, everybody should be under no illusions that he wants players in and he wants them in now.

Totally agree, music to my ears too. Just wondering if it's best to calll them out when they could easily withhold funds and just sack him.

United had the world's most expensive player, 2016s top goal scorer, and one of the most decorated players in the modern game on the bench vs Reading.

We started with Enner Valencia and had Arouna Kone, Tom Cleverley on the bench vs the reigning Champions of the Premier League.

The funny thing was Leicester's bench was actually stronger than ours, considering they were missing their 3 best players as well and had to replace them, their bench was still stronger than ours.

It's clear he was made promises on the type and number of signings that would be available to him when he took the job - looks like those promises haven't been delivered on as yet. Perhaps this is kick in the nads that the board need - and being made publicly is all the more forceful. I prefer a manager who speaks his mind rather than toe the party line or spout a load of nonsensical guff.

The manager's job is to get the best out of the players he has at his disposal. He is clearly struggling to do that, the sooner Barcelona come calling the better.

This group of players needs dismantling. Being all cuddly with them and lavishing them with lemon drizzle cake didn't work. Being direct and speaking openly about them isn't working. It's a group of individuals that have been left to fester and the team spirit has just vanished. I don't think any manager in football could turn this lot around. We need players who will be willing to put in a shift for the shirt, who will give their all for the fans, who know how to play football. Far too few of those in the squad at the moment.

Manchester United have one of the most successful managers in the modern game. They broke the world record transfer fee for a player. They spent in excess of 120 million in the summer. They have the brightest young talents in the game. They have 2016s top goal scorer, world cup winners, International team record breakers. Premier League winners.

Last season Van Gaal, another highly decorated manager, finished 5th and won the FA Cup with a far weaker team. He was sacked. United may well be on course for another domestic cup.

However, despite an unbeaten run of 13 games! They remain 6th place in the premier league, 10 points from top of the league. They were also only runners up in the Europa League group stage.

If that doesn't show you the gravity of a Premier League manager's job nothing will.

I don't even need to bring in discussions about Koeman's time with us in comparison because I think everything that needed to be stated in relation to this point is stated so above.
