Ronald Koeman discussion

The manager's job is to get the best out of the players he has at his disposal. He is clearly struggling to do that, the sooner Barcelona come calling the better.

Have you not considered that maybe he is getting the best out of the players at his disposal?

Three of his key summer signings were missing today for various reasons meaning he was left with a squad that finished 11th for the past 2 seasons & enner Valencia.

People need a reality check.

I thought once, that any manager with ability should be able to manage any team of players and get at least something out of them. But just look at the state of our squad, what a broken mess.

Hope they all sleep well tonight the little angels, they've earned it.

This group of players needs dismantling. Being all cuddly with them and lavishing them with lemon drizzle cake didn't work. Being direct and speaking openly about them isn't working. It's a group of individuals that have been left to fester and the team spirit has just vanished. I don't think any manager in football could turn this lot around. We need players who will be willing to put in a shift for the shirt, who will give their all for the fans, who know how to play football. Far too few of those in the squad at the moment.
They were too idle to go and take on fluids, when there was a break up in play, and get instructions from the manager. Sack the bleeding lot of them, absolutly gutless.

In his first season , this was true . Free-flowing attacking football, free kicks flying into top corners , 30+ attempts on goal each match . So why did the genius Martinez change to " Pass the ball around in our own half for 20 mins " . If we had a FK within shooting distance the ball ended up back with Tim Howard ffs . I'm not saying we've improved a lot . But you can't deny Martinez' philosophy gave us football that was 'kin boring the last two seasons
The tempo in the second season dropped. I said at the time he placed too much emphasis on that Euro Mickey Mouse Cup. We played our best footy in that competition and the season was a write off because of it.

Season three we had a tough opening 10 games and I feared the worst. However, the tempo was back up again for those and the best part of the first half of the season (including the LC run) and we didn't do badly at all. Second half of the season and apart from the FA Cup run the sense of belief drained from the team and they cowered like whipped dogs at Goodison from their own fans.

There was a lot of peaks and troughs in his time here, that's for sure. In that respect I expect exactly the same from Koeman because his career is littered with good runs followed by poor long runs.

Manchester United have one of the most successful managers in the modern game. They broke the world record transfer fee for a player. They spent in excess of 120 million in the summer. They have the brightest young talents in the game. They have 2016s top goal scorer, world cup winners, International team record breakers. Premier League winners.

Last season Van Gaal, another highly decorated manager, finished 5th and won the FA Cup with a far weaker team. He was sacked. United may well be on course for another domestic cup.

However, despite an unbeaten run of 13 games! They remain 6th place in the premier league, 10 points from top of the league. They were also only runners up in the Europa League group stage.

If that doesn't show you the gravity of a Premier League manager's job nothing will.

I don't even need to bring in discussions about Koeman's time with us in comparison because I think everything that needed to be stated in relation to this point is stated so above.
Pep is also finding it tough with much higher quality of players but not all are his players and don't suit his style of play. Let's wait until koeman gets the players in who will suit his style of play(judging by his comments today, that's at least 8!!) and then make comment on his coaching ability

And after I gave the club the big build up yesterday they go and do that today.

Koeman can moan all he wants about players but the players we have are better than most teams that have managed to tonk Leicester over the last few months.

I seriously have doubts that Koeman will win a trophy here, which isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world as it was all about laying the foundations and using his name to attract players. However he has a far too prickly character and he has called out the players again, just like after Norwich I can see a dip in our league form because of it.

Let's hope we can get a few decent players in to pick the mood up before we have a loss of form, but bar from Schneiderlin (was with RK at Southampton) and Depay (Dutch links?) I can't see too many players wanting to join us/him seeing the amount of dross we've served up this season.

It's a blip we will get over it but to lose one home cup tie is careless, 2 is taking the p...

Roll on next season :)

You must at least be glad to see a manager finally hold the board to account and call out their BS. It's been a long day coming.

It was great to hear Koeman's attack on the lack of progress with regards to signings - it's about time we saw some passion from him! Managing a bunch of mainly old, slow and below-average-performing players is as frustrating to him as it is to us: with a bit of luck his outburst will be the kick up the backside the Board needs. Several signings are needed and quickly. More expressions of passion from Ronnie are to be welcomed.
