Ronald Koeman discussion

Aye, I say that every week at the match to the fella who sits next to me who hates him. He's like Barkley, he's always looking to move the ball forward but the movement isn't there so they can sit on the ball and lose it, which causes the angsts and moaning in the crowd.

Only have to look at the Leicester game on Boxing Day, the forward movement was fine and Funes' passing was sound - same too Barkley when he came off the bench.

Think as you said mate, he was a player loads were down on when he signed, so even when he has a good game those lads will just focus on any slip - up he had in that game, it's the Everton way.

I've never said he was a mercenary, I said he was ambitious and sees us as a stepping stone like he did Southampton.

Seriously, you are being very biased towards us and putting us on a very high pedestal. I get it, you are a fan but take a step back and think.

Let's see he finishes sixth this year, Spurs finish fifth. Poch takes a job in Spain, and Spurs come calling with a 8 million pound contract.

He will be gone, I accept that. That's what I'm saying.
I'm not being bias at all, far from it. I can absolutely see were we are as a club presently. I simply don't see why Spurs or any equivalent would want Koeman when there are better options available for them. Koeman wasn't my first choice to be our manager but imo he was the best we could get. Spurs or someone like them would have a larger rage of manager's of quality to choose from and I don't see why they would want Koeman.

Not in my opinion mate. Remember the way Spain used Llorente to to try and break a deadlock, or the way Arsenal use Giroud to good effect against different teams? That's the way a football team should use a more direct game. It shouldn't be the modus operandi of a club - to develop that game as a way of playing all told.

Best Euro teams ever at international and club level were all technically gifted and pioneers:

Brazil
Holland
Hungary

Real Madrid
Barcelona
AC Milan

No I agree. Its different for different teams though, some have to play within their means. Its easier to play nice flowing football if you can afford to buy all the best players or have a good national pool to call from. The less fortunate have to adapt which is why it annoys when people say how football should be played. It can be played any way which is what makes it a great sport. I dont think the less fortunate thing applies to Everton though which is why the long ball stuff this year has been quite baffling.

I hate everything about Barcelona and their style of football. I think its been really bad for the game as a whole.

Think all what @Moomin is saying mate is that if a so called bigger club came in then Koeman would be off.

All that pressing when they haven't got the ball, skill, boss movement, battling, with fantastic goals thrown in can get a bit tiresome at times.

Koeman will strip the squad and bring in his players.

But, I'm amazed at you saying the squad is not good enough though. Back in May you said the following on the link

https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/...reset-21-05-2016.83876/page-1348#post-4523746

har har har

I'm not saying I want all or any of those names. Certainly a few would be unknown quantities if we hired them.

Personally I think the squad we have is fine as a starting point for any manager to come into. Get them doing the basics again and we would be 15 points better off alone, so adding a few players who are hopefully better than what we have and there is massive room for improvement.

So if our list all turned us down for whatever reason then there is still a lot to work with for a second list of choices I think. I doubt we would he turned down by any of our choices though, Boer Pellegrini and koeman will accept any offer we make I think, and emery swayed as well.

and what? Mirallas, Baines, Coleman, Lukaku, Jags (in may), Mori, Barkely, Barry (according to others back in may), McCarthy, Deeufeu (back when i had hope) are all good starting points in the squad.

Poor poor vaulting here mate, find something better, there is bound to be something i said ;)

They are the most obnxious boring, "look at me", snide team I have ever seen (none RS version obviously..)

Them and Spain have ruined football for me. Everyone tries to be like them, the art of a good cross and header seems to be dying.

Of course they are good but nah not for me. I hate Spanish football anyway, its a joke of a league.

It's funny how as fans (and good) we see things differently, I always see Barca as one of the more down to earth teams, and see Real Madrid as the Spanish version of the RS, Ronaldo standing there with his chest puffed out always gets my back up, his sulking because a team mate didn't pass to him, he just emphasises everything I dislike about Real.

I agree with the principle, but he doesn't help himself at times. His problem is that he's rather clumsy, and he has a habit of not sorting his feet out quickly enough. Because of that, he often closes himself down and gets into positions where he can only do one thing (pass back to the keeper for example, or play the ball down the line). That leads to a lot of hairy moments because the fans can see that he has nowhere else to go and if he gets it wrong we're screwed.

*Edited to stay on topic. Koeman looks like ginger man baby pass it on.

It is funny I agree.

See I actually like Ronaldo! Brilliant player who gives his all and leads by example. He is also seemingly a very decent bloke away from the pitch, always doing nice stuff for kids, seems to be very rooted/grounded in terms of his family etc. Messi I see as a massive tax dodging, hair dying snide!

As for as clubs go I would say I prefer Barca to Real but I hate both of them really as they act like they are untouchable. Give me someone like Rayo Vallecano or Real Oviedo any day.
