Ronald Koeman discussion

We know what our problem is: we can't hack it when teams sit back.

That's a great win today and the lad Davies must be on cloud nine and I'm made up for him. But City are one of the few teams that commit to attack in numbers. The game plan to sit back and hit on the break was sensible and paid dividends. But next week and the weeks following that we are back to facing other teams who stand off like Everton do.

He needs to show he can get this team accomplished enough to break the deadlock in those games and take all three points. We have something like 5 wins in the last 18 games. That ratio needs improving dramatically if we're to compete.

i can't wait for him to get more of his own type of players in. Back up striker and a CB in this window and we'll give sixth a good go. Goalkeeper in the summer.

Fair play for saying so Dave

You saw a glimpse of what Koeman wants the team to do, as we get the players in he wants then hopefully it becomes more the norm than an exception

First full 90 we've managed all season adn hopefully we are set for a last 18 games like he had at Saints last season

BTW, know you've been hugely critical ,of Baines, but in a back 3 playign as a wingback he looks like the Naines of old - as does coleman really
Against a team that comes at us, Everton have done very well with these players before. As stated above, our downfall is teams sitting off. We find it easier playing Man City than Hull City.

By the way, and not aimed at you but in general, are the players ok again today? No need to bin everyone off now with this result?

Lol.

Never said to bin off Barkley mate, but rather wanted to see him in a midfield 3 with energy around him and he looked better as the game went on especially when we brought more energy intot he centre, same with wanting holgate starting in a back 3 and the fullbacks as wingbacks, barry this is one of the few teams due to the two they played in centre mid we could get away with as it turned out, davies/gueye/schneiderlin are the future, still not convinced by mori or mirallas being able to sustain the form though and we do need 4-05 in without doubt (incluiding a keeper)

but todays a good day and a glimpse into the type of perfomrmance he wants. The reason some of these players do need binning is down to consistancy not the ability to turn it on every blue moon (no pun intended_)

What we really need is a few players to up their game consistently and we will do just that.

We're looking for another attacker, and maybe that will be the one that has a bit more guile and craft.

Two assists for Ross today - he's shown he can do that playmaker role, as long as there's a few players around him making good runs.

You're point about teams sitting back is true though. But it's been the issue for abiut five/six years now.

I didn't say anything about Barkely mate.

The last point about Koeman wanting to play like this: how can we? You don't get the chance to sit and break like that against anything more than about 5 teams maximum in this league.

Allowing our opponents 69% of possession and making that work is something that won't fit against Stoke or West Brom and the like. I'd far rather Koeman worked on a plan to beat those teams than a City...which pretty much takes care of itself because you're responding to what the opposition is doing.
