Ronald Koeman discussion

Yeah I think this was their major problem, Toure and Zabaleta let their midfield down, although their defence has also got lots of problems! Still we took full advantage and Koeman got his tactics spot on. We certainly look better playing 3-5-2 and it seems to suit the players we've got.

Got to say I'm not a fan of 3-5-2 but we looked solid as a rock yesterday with it ( apart from the odd brainfart from Mori lol )

His tactics were spot on and I've mentioned a few times in various threads his substitutions were superb, right players at the right time.

Pissed meself seeing that Koeman interview where he said that Guardiola will get it right some time soon.

CL winner x2
La Liga winner x3
Bundesliga winner x3
World coach of the year x3

Hopefully he doesn't change the side too much for Palace. Despite it seeming like a defensive formation vs a team that won't come at us as much it actually adds more width than our normal formation since the full backs we have are better than our wingers.

The team should have enough momentum coming off a 4-0 demolition of City. I cant help thinking though that we usually only play when we're forced to by going behind.

They need the points here otherwise the suspicion will be that we can beat teams on the break and dont have the smarts to open up stubborn defences.

Even El Fraudo could have won those things with those teams in those leagues

I'd expect Palace playing at home to come at us normally for our counter-attacking style but their confidence will be so low at the minute they might be really negative to try ensure a point.

...no, that Guardiola needs a bit of moral support for slumping to 5th in the PL.

Koeman could tell you he's cured cancer and you'd still try and spin it negatively.

Guardiola is obviously struggling to adapt fully to the PL and Koeman is acknowledging his talents as a manager and saying he'll be fine in the end. Nothing wrong with that; it's actually a nice gesture from one friend to another.

Yeah but Koeman sure had the measure of Guardiola yesterday.Sure his mangerial CV is not as good as Guardiola but it beats Roberto Martinez's curriculum vitae anyday.

They were the better team at Goodison a few months back. Alardyce is under the cosh, It wont be easy, but surely to goodness three points are a must here?
