Ronald Koeman discussion

Still buzzing after yesterday! He's made me excited to watch us play again. This season was never going to be plain sailing but results/performances like City and Arsenal show that we can mix it with the top teams. Although we can't suddenly rely on him, the added movement in midfield from Davies (and hopefully Schneiderlin) seems to be bringing more out of Barkley and therefore Lukaku. To break down teams who sit back against us, this movement is vital to creating the space we need.

4 points taken off City. 7 points taken off City/Arsenal/Utd so far. We need to make this run between now and the end of Feb count.

Can't get too excited, because this is Everton, but our improvement is becoming more evident

All eleven players celebrating with Lookman.

Team Spirit.
Didn't one of the forums more prominent posters criticise Koeman for throwing a good number of our players under a bus last week ???????. It looks like they picked themselves up dusted themselves down and put in one hell of a performance for their manager and supporters. But hey what does Ronny know about man management :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

That second half performance was outstanding.Im still buzzing for a variety of reasons.Daveks reaction on this thread.John Stones coming back to Goodison only for us to humiliate both Stones and City.We got City on two fronts there.Forcing them into paying way over the odds for a way overrated defender and then beating the living daylights out of them yesterday.I have never forgiven Stones for that calm down calm down gesture to the crowd last season with that smug face of his.John Stones wasn't so smug yesterday though was he?Tom Davies bossing the midfield and Ademola Lookman scoring after coming on for his debut.I genuinely think Koeman has restored the fortress Goodison factor and that Goodison is a ground that teams fear coming to again. We have to build on this now and make sure that it's not a false dawn. But im going to enjoy this one for the remainder of the week at the very least. That was a very satisfying win. It's always nice to see Everton doing what an Everton team should be doing and that's blowing the opposition to bits with fight aggression and great football.

After Sunday, to me, it seems a step change has happened at the club. New signings, Davies emerging, players getting Koeman, dunno. But that performance, albeit against a wilting City side, will send shock waves through the squad.

Spurs and Chelsea are the only 2 of the Sky 6 who look in any way set for some dominant runs. United a close 3rd. The rest are either over achieving, (RS imo), or fathering unhappy players. Arse, City are a busted flush, in relative terms.

Which all means we will be 8th.

City weren't wilting mate, they where off the back of there best performance this season against west ham.

lol

We just have to keep within touching distance.

They all have got to play each other and they all have Europe returning (bar RS and Chelsea obviously).

Never know.

Personally I reckon we'll end up where we are now though, around 5 points behind 6th, but around the same clear of the chasing pack.
I think Utd have at least 8-10 more games to play then us this season 2 in Carling cup, at least 4 in EL and probably 2-3 in the fa cup. That's why I think we can catch them.

Tell you what though Ste, playing Toure and Zabaletta as a pair worked right in our favour. Barry had them off but we had the energy of Tom as well. For all the money they've spent you just can't have a rb playing cm and Toure doesn't exactly track back does he.

That's what they wanted mate, they paid for pep, him of mascherano at cb etc, same team got creamed over after west ham in the cup, same reporters now slating him.

They made Barry look brilliant, that says a lot about how dumb that selection was.

I noted that despite winning we still made 3 substitutions. I always remember when we were winning we used to let our players run themselves into the ground and didn't make a change. It back fired on us quite a few times. At least Koeman is recognising this and putting freshness on to maintain the lead. I know Lookman was a no brainer because the damage was already done but it is refreshing to see subs used even when we are winning not just to sure up the defence but to keep the freshness.

Yeah I think this was their major problem, Toure and Zabaleta let their midfield down, although their defence has also got lots of problems! Still we took full advantage and Koeman got his tactics spot on. We certainly look better playing 3-5-2 and it seems to suit the players we've got.
