Ronald Koeman discussion

Martinez thread for that. Don't know how many times the mods here have to tell everyone.

Happy to discuss him in that.

I'm comparing your Koeman comment directly to our previous manager.

I would say he hasn't been here long enough to come to a concrete conclusion about how consistent he is.

We know hes a strong personality! after just binning off a few players who were already here, for me, the test was today ! will he start the goalkeeper he brought in ? and the answer was no ! this man has no faves ! which is lovely to see ! you aint doing it for him ! and someone comes in and plays well ! you're not coming straight back ! how refreshing is that ! love it !
!! !! ! !!! !

My analysis: we won against a relegation outfit. Of course all you can do is win, but we are where we are in the league.

Come back when we're challenging for a CL spot and Ill do cartwheels.
Don't speak too soon dave. The way the teams above us are starting to wobble it could happen. Probably won't but could.

Tonight I am a happy Evertonian, not getting carried away, but I think we are finally going in the right direction? (We could of course been going in the right direction since he was appointed!)

Ha ha ha. We win and you think of me.

Where am I? Still here mate, still looking at a manager who has us in 7th place.

The recent run is encouraging, but my point about Koeman has always been that he's a streaky manager. Good first 5 games this season followed by 3 wins in 17 games. Now we have an upturn, but there will be another downturn.

It's the nature of the beast.

His record in the league, based on 3 seasons is that so far he has always had a dip of around 10 games were his teams struggle for results, its not streaky, its just a dip at 1 point in the season.

With a better, more rounded squad, with options, if he removes the dip, he consistently picks up points.

Next season is gonna be superb.

"Dip" "streaky" - same difference. Fall asleep for 10/12 matches in the PL and you can forget a CL challenge.

Hopefully he has the sense to keep this team with a few upgrades incoming.

Schneiderlin and Lookman for Barry and Mirallas will be an improvement.

United are the low lying fruit. I can't see them collapsing, tbh. They fought well at a difficult away fixture today, for example.

To be fair he would be a miracle worker to get us top 4 unless the other clubs implode. We are where we should be, (possibly even one place higher as I still think Stoke have the better squad) so he is doing a good job.

I agree his career shows that he goes through patches of really good form mixed in between bad spells but we have just got to be thankful we are getting the points.

5 points off Man utd who have Mourinho, had a better squad to start with and spent more in the summer shows it isn't all bad.

All early days mate. We've seen newcomers arrive and impress for a half a season or more and then they're ready to be moved on. Lookman looks a good prospect.

Stoke have a better squad???

Is this some sort of sick joke? They are utter TOSH.

Aye, but City and the lovables are in a bit of spin it seems.

Nice that we seem to have some real momentum, where it will end up, who knows?
