Ronald Koeman discussion

Interesting little stat from BBC Sport:
"The Toffees, meanwhile, have won three consecutive Premier League games without conceding for the first time since January 2010 (under David Moyes)."

Its nice to have a defence again.
And you gotta give Ronald credit for the tactics, but man, imagine if we had another stud back there and could play four in the back? You even play Gana, Davies, Schniederlein together, or just get some more offensive talent out there...regardless, a couple signings and Europe is a real possibility. And honestly, if anyone feels like that's a regression...I don't even know how to respond to that. We are 10 points from second, and plenty of the team above us have serious issues. Champions league isn't out of reach with the proper investment.

Why play four at the back when you can play 5 in midfield? 3-5-2 is the way forward.

That's fine, but not sure that back 3 has enough talent and skill to keep putting up clear sheets. Either that, or not sure we have enough offensive firepower to score consistently. it's been a great run, but man, we need some more players and talent.

He's getting his time.

Look, here's the situation as I see it expectation wise:

7th this season = fair enough
7th next season = not good enough, but not sackable, just a good sign that after 4 windows and his own squad largely in place he can't get us where we want.
Any failure in a third season (if he's still here) to make an assault on a CL spot is grounds for dismissal.

Having seen what this feller has done elsewhere and what he's done here I think he's a steady Eddie who doesn't have that certain creative spark that squeezes out the necessary extra points to convert an also ran into a CL spot team.

He's getting his time? Hahahaha, you've been on his back since his appointment

7th this season isn't 'fair enough' after 2 consecutive 11th place finishes under the precious clown, it's called a sizeable improvement

Laughable that you're saying that in season 3 7th would be a sackable offence when you defended that gimp to the death last year after we sat 13th when he was rightly dumped.

"Anything between 6th and 17th doesn't matter" davek last season, complete hypocrisy from you, yet again.

We were 13th when Martinez was sacked.

Yeah, I call them the sensational six. It's almost impossible now to break into the top 5.

Is this the excuse being trotted out in advance of next season's underwhelming finish?

Lordy.
Call me an optimist but I genuinely do think we have a shot at top 5 now that koeman has sorted his side out. We've started the same 11 for 2 games on the bounce which is something I can't remember us doing at all this season.

The teams got a nice balance to it, there's a good link between the defense and attack with mirallas especially playing higher up. if gerry goes we need to bring in a player who can change a game and create a bit of magic but generally our play is good and we look strong defensively too.

If we can win the next 4 games now and see where we are at the end of February when we start playing the teams above us. Both Manchester clubs are comically inconsistent, the rs are going through their annual meltdown. Who knows.

Demanding that there is a ""critique"" of the current manager after refusing to accept any ""critique"" whatsover of the previous one.

You couldn't make it up.

Or maybe you could....

A cup, yes. In the short term. Or a CL spot. The title is way beyond us no matter who is in charge right now, never mind someone like Koeman.

I think that game against Palace shows how much we have improved under Koeman. The way we scored a late winner and saw out the win.Under Martinez we would have done something stupid in the remaining minutes by snatching a draw or defeat from the jaws of victory. We were the masters of dumb and stupid football under Martinez.
