Ronald Koeman discussion

It has indeed.

Playing well, mixing it up, kids all over the shop, not missing erstwhile player of the year nor £24m new signing.

Even the keeper looks sound.

Always thought managers can stumble onto a formation/side, (Robson with England being Exhibit A), and maybe thats whats happened here. Koeman obviously started to blood Davies before Gana chipped off to the ACON, but there is no way he would have thought he would have been so effective.

And keeping a winning side for 2 totally different opponents was great to see.

he totally mate.

And if we are looking to convince players to come on board, the recent form wont harm those chances.

Forgot just how good it is seeing a young scouse lad breaking through as well, took me back to being a footy mad kid again rather than a jaded middle aged bloke.

Think a vast amount of successful managers get lucky and stumble upon something as well.

Not often I agree with davek, but I think he was right after the city game. We struggle to break teams down who will sit in and defend. Have struggled with this for the last few years. Ron needs to be looking for a number 10 with a bit of guile, or find one from within the ranks.

Kind of agree, but then we could have been 2 or 3 up at HT on Saturday.

But the guile would be good. Perhaps he thinks Ross, in front of a midfield with Davies/Morgs/Gana in it could do the trick. Not sure myself.

Am I really seeing criticism that Koeman struggles to break down teams that sit back? Not like it's happened to all of the top 7. I've not seen anything different in our play against teams that sit back to other top teams. It happens all the time. Every manager struggles to deal with it at some point.

And as was evidenced last weekend vs City, having quality number 10s isn't always the answer. It's one of the most unconvincing arguments I've seen. There are so many matches where you drop points when you absolutely don't deserve to. As the Boss would say it "But, okay. That's football".
