Ronald Koeman discussion

I've explained, I don't like the feller. His attitude is wrong, all wrong. The advice to Lukaku to leave, the public tongue lashings of individual players, the scandalous treatment of Niasse - as a man I find him distasteful and he'd get a good smack in everyday life if he hawked that kind of attitude around with him.

As said, there has been a welcome upturn in both results and performances and it'd be churlish not to acknowledge it. But he's done f.a. in the grand scheme of things so I refuse to be brow beaten by anyone trying to talk him up. He's nothing in this club's history so far. NOTHING.

It's Feb and he hasn't even got 72 POINTS . I'm with you!

He might trouble Moyes' best ever points total of 65. Anything more than that and the feller is entering the domain of greatness.
SHUT THE F UP ABOUT 72 points, we still ended up 5th that's right 5th not 4th or 3rd or 2nd or 1st ...Moyes got us in the CL with less points then Martinez did. An ill tell you right now getting 4th under Moyes was far far more enjoyable then Martinez 5th because we held the RS off, 72 points left us 7 points behind Arsenal, that season ended with 5 games to go when we lost to palace 3-2 at home.

Total points don't make you a legend. Getting somewhere does. Howard Kendell is a legend, not because he got 72 points or more but because he won the F'in league.

Martinez got us 72 and won us NOTHING, Moyes bettered him and I think Koeman will do this year.

As opposed to the constant smoke blowing their arses were getting for two years? It's seemingly done its job has it not? Barkley is looking more and more like the player he was in his breakout season, the cheekiness of his goal today a prime example

Niasse, yeah maybe it was harsh shunning him to the U23's but again at least there was a valid reason for doing so rather than making up excuses for him not featuring in matchday squads

Have you seen that table Dave?

Those money clubs are worried, they look over their shoulder and they see it, like a steam train, chooo, chooo Dave, thats the Everton Express behind them, CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Ha ha. The inferiority complex in that ^^^.

They should ALWAYS feel Everon are coming after them. But ok, we're in 7th place and that'll have to do.

To be fair he didn't say anything directly about 72 points.

He's two wins away from breaking last seasons 44 points total that Martinez scrambled together though! The scandalous treatment of Niasse.lol That waste of space shouldn't have been even here in the first place.

Barkley had his best season last season.

Btw, what was the valid reason for treating Niasse like an animal?

Koeman has improved us as a team better than Klopp, Mourihno and Pep have with their clubs in less time.

The team is as well drilled as it has been for years. Nobody is unsure of their role and each player dutifully does what Koeman wants or they're out. There was a bad spell but in the end we have come through it better, because Koeman realised just how bad some of his options were, and got rid accordingly.

Lukaku has been a major factor yes, but the difference is he isn't scoring consolation goals at the expense of a leaky defence. He has a solid team behind him. The cruel to be kind approach on Barkley seems to be working. The youth players coming through are playing with smiles on their face whilst also being measured and reassured that they have to fight for their place.

It's been a great start to the year. And I reckon it'll continue into one of best we've had for ages.

That's all very premature mate. Don't you think a solid period of 7 games or so is a little too flimsy for making grand declarations like that?

Klopp went there last season and had them in two cup finals off the bat. And for all the "poor starts" that Jose and Pep have made they are still ahead of us and will no doubt finish the season that way too.

No, it isn't a grand declaration at all. An improving squad that will be added to in the Summer, we could have a very good year in comparison to the last two mid table scraps.

Did they get winners medals for those finals? It's February and they're pretty much ruled out of any silverware this season and may lose the top 4 place with problems that haven't been fixed in over a year. I'd say Klopp isn't doing a grand job.

Of course, but both aren't where they were last year yet are they? Both previous managers did a better job the season before. So in that respect, Koeman has done a better turn around job with us than they have with their clubs.
