Well I think there was something solid to go on with that first season wasn't there mate? All we have now is...well...nothing...
Was there? A season when we won nothing is the supposed pinnacle of what we should be aiming for mate? The 72 point 5th place trophy?Well I think there was something solid to go on with that first season wasn't there mate? All we have now is...well...nothing...
I see the table, I see 7th place. It's better than 11th place, and worse than 5th place. Then I shrug at the current situation.

Shame after reaching such giddy heights he followed it with 2 seasons of complete bilge
Viva La Bonce massive
You are spot on there, that was the best club side (assuming that you are talking about the 69/70 championship team) that I ever saw and I don't mean the best Everton side, I mean the best. Club side. I still, all these years later, feel privileged to have watched them. The 62/63 side were good but not in the same league as the 69/70 side.
From all I have managed to glean in the years since 'the Cat' died, his players did not necessarily like him, but they all respected him. (If you get a chance take a look at the days of our life sky video in which Joe Royle, Colin Harvey and Howard Kendall are interviewed). For what it is worth, I think that if Koeman decides to stay here for the long haul, he will be as successful as 'the Cat'.
13 goals in the last 3 games, only one home loss this season, and playing the best & most efficient attacking football seen at Goodison for a long time. Deffo something to build on with a more solid defence, we look a team at the moment.Well I think there was something solid to go on with that first season wasn't there mate? Nowhere near a great first season though. Moyes first season after us being relegation candidates so long was much more impressive, and it goes without saying that Martinez's first season was off the charts impressive.let's see if we can take a scalp or two in some of our tough aways, but looks like we are on course for at least 60 points which would be a great season IMO, massive improvement.
Yes, something to build on. I will accept that.13 goals in the last 3 games, only one home loss this season, and playing the best & most efficient attacking football seen at Goodison for a long time. Deffo something to build on with a more solid defence, we look a team at the moment.
Strategically speaking a EL campaign would be a disaster at this point. Anyone who wants to make progress next season better pray Everton don't qualify. But 5th obviously would be a real step forward after 11th fir two seasons. You said you don't want to be in the Europa. Why would 5th then be better?
Remind me again mate? Can't recall reading about this.Nowhere near a great first season though. Moyes first season after us being relegation candidates so long was much more impressive, and it goes without saying that Martinez's first season was off the charts impressive.
