Ronald Koeman discussion

in a nutshell this is spot on and 99.9% of Evertonians will say the same. Commitment, fight and desire are a basic requirement when playing for Everton Football Club. Do that and the fans will roar on the team to play above and beyond their capabilities.

Koeman is being blunt, open, honest and damning in his criticism. It tells me a couple of things. Firstly, he's laying down the law of what is and isn't acceptable and seeing who is willing to fight for the cause. Secondly, it makes me believe that there is a few bob to spend because the way he talks he knows he may need to replace a fair few if they get offended by what he says and "down tools" like they did last season.

Koeman is exactly what Everton need right now and more importantly is what Evertonians needed after the absolute guff getting spouted by Martinez
Exactly. You only have to look at the crowds reaction to gueye's performance on Saturday. His work rate was unbelievable and if there is one set of supporters you can't con, it's Everton fans. The bare minimum they require is that their players 'put a shift in on the park'. Either our so called 'star players' put in that effort or they will be shipped out. Koeman won't tolerate anything less and neither will the supporters.

Yep. Strange one. I would think for £25-30m there are better options.
Add another £5-10m to that and you are looking at top end talent.

You would think so but maybe in this market there isnt? Or maybe we have gone after players to do the job RK wants Bolassie to do, better players, but we have been unable to get them into the club, Bolassie for all we know could be a plan B that we can get because the other targets failed.
One thing that does make me feel it high is no one else sems to be linked with him that I have noticed, no bidding way, so i dunno, maybe Palace just isnt the right place for him but Everton is.

I just had a look at who his agent is but it's no one significant (in case @monty was wondering). According to the normally exaggerated values from transfermarkt.co.uk he's worth 12m.

panic buy written all over it, but then so was Fellaini and he turned out well.

Its hardly a panic buy when the Manager rates him and wanted him at Southampton - he now has the funds at Everton to get the player he's rated for a few years. Nothing panic buy about it.

I tend to agree with you DH but, and its a big but, Koeman knows what we are buying, he will have asked for him to fit into his system which could reduce the pain a little unlike his predecessor who went for videos and lucky bags

One man stood against this forum when they were singing about the school of science being on its way back. He knew. He was trying to save us all. That man was @ianefc.

Apologise HERE for not believing in Ian.

Early season 15/16 was genuinely volatile on here. Doug Dave Prev one by one fell to the irrefutable truth of Martinez's incompetence. Only @mkrudden kept his cool in the heat of war to avoid a lengthy lay off. Heady days.

I will always value the rational and composed input you too provided in those emotionally vicissitudinous times.
@mkrudden? ...I admire loyalty and his steadfast adherence to 'the Martinez-way' was undeniably loyal. If mkrudden had executive 'hire/fire'capacity at EFC, Booby would still be manager...

...and we'd be on course for relegation.
