Ronald Koeman discussion

One match doesn't magically override the countless matches we did play long ball.

We also did a fair amount of hoofing in that city match if you go back and watch it all.
I recall seeing a stat recently were our hoof was recorded at 11% vs united and Liverpool considerably higher. There is nothing wrong with mixing up play as we found to our detriment under the previous manager.

Barcelona B experience like Guardiola. Knows the system and tradition of playing. Safe pair of hands in a transition. De Boer is a joke candidate but is probably more in Barca's tradition of possession based football.
Great shout. I don't think De Boer should be judged on his time at inter, that club is in free fall on and off the pitch. Due to his Ajax background @davek is correct he does play football in the right manner, although I think Koeman as a player not necessarily as a manager is held in higher regard by the club's (Barcelona) supporters.

Mate, Koeman would never be offered that job. Too much of a culture shock. They tried the big target man upfront stuff with Ibra and it ended in tears.

The fella has been here half a season, his ways are starting to click and everyone is looking fitter and sharper.

He's culled half a first team, says it all really

Sure, but we have played hoofball tactics for large spells this season, being on a good run of form doesn't change that fact.

I hate it when we win games by not playing it on the deck.

Why can't we play like last season ??

For what it's worth, we only played 14 extra passes per game last season than Southampton.

Southampton also scored nearly 75 % of their goals from open play whilst we scored just over half of ours from open play.

Make of that what you will...
