Ronald Koeman discussion

Right, I'll tell you an anecdote. In 1974 I was catching the London train from Crewe station. It was very crowded; I found myself in a last-minute rush for the one remaining seat beside a tall, good-looking man with collar-length hair, it was the seventies; buckaroo! I looked up and saw it was none other than Peter Purves, it was the height of his Blue Peter career. He said, "You jammy barsteward" and quick as a flash, I replied, "Don't be blue, Peter!" Needless to say, I had the last laugh, now [Poor language removed] off!

*words cant be found*

That's probably do it yes. I think that's way off though. We can aim for 65 points, which would be a good effort and equal Moyes' best total at the club. Not bad going for a first season. But. as said, we'll need more in the coming seasons.
WOW! This is actually a sensible reply. I do agree with you tho, but you have to admit we're definitely going in the right direction and a far better team this year than the previous two?

It;s hard to tell off a first season isn't it? Progress is difficult, but required.

What if - as seems likely - Lukaku goes? I think that would require a whole season to recover from. And then what if we qualify for the EL and we play 10/12 more games with two games per week regularly? And what if players playing well this season lose form or pick up an injury early next season?

It's a decent first season. 7th is about the minimum that's acceptable for a club like this. 5th is required in season two though and those issues I highlight will make it difficult. Buy he is being backed with cash so I expect that progress.

I agree but I really do think we'll keep hold of Lukaku, if he was to go surely it would've been at the end of last season, not when a team is doing well? I think we might just be building something good here. We should get Europe League as Man Utd will win the League cup.
To say you have to get 5th in your 2nd season is a bit harsh really as all the teams above us have bigger spending power than we do but I don't think we will be far away.

I refer you to my graph in the post above. So, you can see from that that I dont 'tell you how we're not better than last season'.
The problem with your graph is that koemans first season and martinez's first season have a similar starting point. In terms of league position that would be correct, however the teams performance levels were poles apart

I think it's boss how much we've improved under him. Remember the utter state of us the past two seasons and how depressing it was going the game? I'm coming away with a smile on my face more often than not these days, and not having my weekends ruined. Thank you Ronald!

More than anything the teams working hard, getting stuck in, and end of the day that's what gets the crowd up for it, fancy togger and everything else comes after that bare minimum we should always demand, and finally after the last clown we have got it back.

Massive end to the season for us coming, we have to visit four grounds where we traditionally choke badly at, let's see how much the old mentality has been cut out of them. Happy to see goodison is becoming a place teams aren't wanting to come once again though, seriously hoping we end up winning all the remaining home games now, aswe should be looking at turning it back to what it used to be.

That's just progress mate. If we get 6th or 7th this season and then just repeat that next, with a manager for the first time backed with cash, that can't be acceptable.

On Lukaku: I am pretty sceptical of any report that suggests he'll sign. I think we're just seeing a holding pattern until the summer when he'll land at a CL club with the cash to buy him. In fact, I wouldn't mind betting he's already been pencilled in by a club of that nature and it'll be finalised in the summer.

I just feed data in mate. That's what comes out. Is the actual data wrong? No. Your perception is that it looks wrong.
