Ronald Koeman discussion

Next season will end you David.
He's a steady Eddie mate. We'll get a solid top half finish again next season. There will be no progress on our position this season.

That's ok, even acceptable for us traditionally. But when hes spending £80m per season on players we have to be getting CL spots.

I believe the opposite will happen to what you think: well stall badly and the knives will be out for the Dutch lad. That looks favourite to me rather than pushing in to a CL spot finish. Sorry to say.

We've got 15 points out of the last 15 available at Goodison.

We won 4 home games under Martinez and 5 in total last season.

Absolute madness when you look at it that way.

Thank Christ I have a terrible memory. Forgot that.

Would keep me awake at night.

One thing is for sure though, irrespective of the contrary views on here, Everton are deffo raising eyebrows beyond GOT and L4. And it doesnt take a massive jump of assumptions to see that maybe, just maybe, the next 2 seasons might see a few "Top 4" clubs suffer and have a downward slump.

Spurs playing home games at Wembley.

Arsenal will lose some key players, and probably get a new manager in. Who?

Jose yet to have a Jose moment at United.

RS? Jury is out on the squad, even though they are amazingly 4th tonight.

I only see Chelsea and City as fixtures in the top 4 next season/season after.

Fun days.

(Logs into the night shift)

I see the garbage is recycling again.

"we have nothing left to play for"....."Give them a derby and they'll brick it"

Yes folks, more unadulterated word faeces from the world's dreariest Evertonian (allegedly).

If a Liverpool fan logged on and posted both those comments they would be blatted for trying to wind Evertonians up.

(sigh)

Why? How much did the current top 6 spent compare to Everton? If Everton somehow spent more than them along with wages then yes possibly. £80m is not net spend mind you.

They are playing with the freedom of ZERO EXPECTATION. Give them a derby and they'll brick it. The only meaningful game left this season. Even the Spurs game was too much for them when the media built it up to being a match up between Spurs and us who have pretensions to be what Spurs are. The manager bottled it, and the players bottled it.

You may expect the players to go to these places and get nothing, but I and several thousand Evertonians who attend certainly expect us to go and put in performances in these games.

He's either the gold standard of WUMs or a Dutchman banged his bird.

But Koeman will have to break the mould next year and start picking up valuable points against top opposition home and away, something his predecessors failed to do. Maybe it is still the squad limiting him to a more reluctant approach away so far. Arguably our last two games have summed up our whole season.[/QUOTE]
The performance against Spurs was a weird one. Given Spurs have the best home record It wasn't the biggest of shocks.

No doubt we have improved in most areas under Koeman. But I'm still hoping we have one two good away performance at United, them lot or Arsenal.

Hopefully when we feel 7th is definitely nailed on then we can play without any fear against top opposition, even though the mentality shouldn't be so reserved. And the real test is whether Koeman can deal with the pressures when expectations of his team rise. It really is the next barrier that needs to be not only broken but smashed. It needs an emphatic away win. Unfortunately I don't hold much hope for it happening this season. Yesterday's game was much better but I'd say it was more our players simply being better quality than any particular tactical stroke. The difference between being able to sign Morgan Schneiderlin and such or not.
It's not just a mentality thing but still a sizeable gap exists in quality between us and the top 6. Only Coleman, Barkley, Gana, Morgan and lukaku would at present in our starting 11 would push for starting places against our nearest rivals (United, RS, arsenal and spurs). City and Chelsea's teams are light years ahead of us. We need minimum 3 players of that standard I have mentioned, to challenge the top 4. In addition hopefully a European campaign to come.

Mathematically yes. It means 8 wins and a draw from our remaining 10 games so at least 2 wins out of the games against Chelsea, Utd, RS and Arse. Think high 60s is do-able myself which would be our second highest ever in the premier era if we achieved it. Given where we started the season and our abysmal autumn, that set's us up very nicely for the summer and next season. Still think it will probably only be good enough for 7th which shows the gulf in quality this season compared to last.
I think we'll win against Chelsea. They will likely be champions already by the time we play them and half on holiday.
