Ronald Koeman discussion

I must be on the wrong website, I thought this was a forum for Everton supporters. You know, for people who support Everton employees like Baines/Ferguson/Koeman rather than those who childishly deride and insult them.

I also thought this was a thread specifically about Ronk, yet once again I'm reading page after page of utter drivel about Belgium's manager. It's becoming a chore having to put up with all this attention seeking.

Anyway, I like Koeman. He's doing a good job improving us. Long may it continue.

Just read the last few pages whilst sipping my morning coffee.

conclusion: you would have to be incredibly, and I mean incredibly stupid and have a complete lack of self awareness to carry on down this route like Dave has here. Either that or have mental health problems.

I am totally serious when I say I am worried for this guys mental health. He is an Evertonian after all, show some compassion lads. :(

Koeman though eh!

They were rank because they downed tools...a lot of it about last season I hear.

And yes, Lukaku's first manager who believed in him and gave him the confidence to go out and make a name for himself as a consistent top scorer was Martinez.

Dear me, there;s some here who would even deny him that.

Is this the next front to attack Martinez on after downgrading the "rubbish" 21 game winning season...that Lukaku was not a massive feather in his cap?

Bottom line: if Martinez hadn't brought in players like Lukaku and breathed life into Barkley's neglected career this chubby Dutch lad would still be at Southampton honouring his contract.

He absolutely should be given credit for obtaining Lukaku and giving Ross a chance. But that's not to say his negatives should be swept away.

Look Dave, obviously discussion is what this place is all about. We all need the opposing view sometimes, whether it's comfortable reading or not - the last thing we want is an echo chamber full of hollow agreement.

And we appreciate that at times it will be relevant to bring up Martinez, just as it was to bring up Moyes previously for comparison. But all Koeman threads do not need to be about Martinez. It would be seen as absolutely fine to enjoy the recent good run of results and the performances of team and manager. I appreciate you liked Martinez, I've no problem with that (why would I?), but it's becoming a bit of a broken record mate.

There are many who feel this way:

Now I'm not saying you are attention seeking at all, but perhaps it'd be a good idea to keep Martinez related discussion mostly to his thread in world football? Or even create one to specifically discuss his tenure as EFC manager?

Happy birthday Ron.

Morning Ron - its Mosh - Happy Birthday mate !

Ah cheers Mosh, fancy popping over for a coffee and some chips n mayo?

Sorry Ron - stuck in Monaco at the moment auditioning my new set of "cheer leaders" if you know what I mean !

But don't worry I've sent a couple of my old set over to give you a Birthday treat with a box of blue and white ping pong balls.

Oh er cheers Mosh (quickly checks Mrs K's diary to see if she is around today)...................

Nearly forgot Ron - one of them has got a newly signed Lukaku contract hidden somewhere as well - have a good one fella !

Party poppers going off everywhere - Agadoo full blast on the stereo!!

Get in!

Seems I missed a lot on here last night lol. Incredible really. We are on a fantastic run here and closing in on utd, arsenal and the darkness yet there is no praise for Koeman from divk and loads for Martinez who was taking us down.

Imagine professing to be an Everton fan yet not being able to hide your hate of everything Everton. Strange.

Steve Clarke (IIRC) loaned him first with WBA, a year before that, and made him a first team player.

Tbf Martinez signing Lukaku on a permanent was massive for the club. The last two seasons were gash but no denying that was a big signing.
I always see this slightly differently. Can the credit really fall to him for signing Lukaku or was it a case that the board had to put the money up and bring him here based on the good season before that and to keep fans onside? Imagine the backlash the board would have had if they never went in for Rom and he was sold to a rival in the league at the time, after so many years of not backing the manager the board had to put the money up so to speak to keep fans onside.

Agreed the board had to stump up the money so it was a bit of both. Just saying that if our first season under Martinez hadnt gone so well he never wouldve signed after his loan
