Grinding out results without exactly looking like a great side. At times we've looked on the ropes but we manage to dig our way out.

It's because he likes to sign physical players with a good work-rate so even when the technical stuff isn't working we can go to the trenches and battle, it's more Mourinho than Barca stuff but there are some on here who'd seem to prefer Keeganball 4-3 losses than actually getting results.

It ain't pretty at the moment, but essentially the team's been ripped up and put back together in a little over twelve months. Considering, through no fault of Koeman's, we've lost a 20+ goals per season goal machine then, results wise, the start to the season has been perfectly acceptable.

Early days mind you, and what happens this season and next will probably define Koeman's time at Everton.

I think we are seeing the benefit of bringing in so many leaders on the pitch. When we actually start playing well we could end up being quite good

I'm sure he must have come over at away games last season, but I don't remember him looking as engaged with the fans as he did when he came over after the City game. I don't think he'll ever totally "get us" and fully become an Evertonian, in fact I'm sure he'll never fully be an Evertonian, but I do think, or at least hope, he's starting to realise just what a big club we are.

I am a hopeless romantic though.

I really like him as our manager and I'm excited to see what he can do with us.

I think hes finally starting to feel like this is his team now.

I like his honesty, and I think he will turn us into a team that are flexible and can mix good football with good physicality when we need to.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman: "I saw Gylfi's goal, but I don't think everyone on the bench did. It was incredible. I don't have any other word for it.

"You need to be really clever to see that possibility and, after two or three weeks of the season, it could be the goal of the season.

"The penalty save was key as well because there were still 30 minutes to go at that time. Jordan is showing that we made the right decision to sign him. He is still a young goalkeeper and I have been really impressed by what he's done from day one here.

On resting Idrissa Gueye: "It was too risky to start [him]. He had a scan on his hamstring and everything was fine, but we didn't want to take the risk with Morgan Schneiderlin out of the game on Sunday [through suspension]."
